According to Wiki the military of the EU.

546 ships, 2448 aircraft, 7490 battle tanks,1,823,000 active personnel and a budget of 226,73 billion dollars. I think they can afford a couple of carriers.

Too Hot

Bad enough clocks going forward; now it's too hot as well.

I've become so used to low temps, today's +11C has me uncomfortable and sweating.

Looking forward to end of week cold snap.

John Prescott impose rules on local councillors which meant that if they campaigned on some particular issue they would then be effectively prevented from voting on it because they were deemed to have an interest? Of something along those lines.

Correct. His law went far beyond "declaration of [financial] interest".

A [new] councillor elected to oppose a council proposal/strategy/programme is not permitted to contribute to any debates, meetings etc related to the proposal - effectively banning opposition.

Pitchforks and flaming torch marches are beginning to look like a rational and proportionate response.

This is the sort of behaviour the Common Market was supposed to end, by providing stable supplies of food and energy. Europe, including the UK, does have a track record of riots, revolutions, wars between neighbours, continental wars and World Wars, brought on by arrogant and selfish leaders, supported by likeminded administrators.

BREXIT was a lucky escape, but some of our Politicians and administrators are very slow learners.

The EU is now creating civilised war fare within the EU, and sometimes it gets very uncivil.

"Our civil service loves the EU like they were twins, lovers and worshippers all rolled into one"

Our civil service wallows in process at the near exclusion of delivery, nest feathering is endemic and accountability has been severely truncated thanks to about two generations of increasingly detatched self serving ignorant goons pretending to represent the voters in our parliament.

Pitchforks and flaming torch marches are beginning to look like a rational and proportionate response.

gc, absolutely.

I'll add that Germany and much of the EU have enjoyed the umbrella of French, British and US armaments and spent their money on other things. I have no doubt the German contribution to the EU army was supposed to be generals and the UK's was to be cannon fodder. But as I say to all sorts of people - if you lie down with welcome written on your back, don't be surprised if people wipe their feet on you. One of the reasons the EU backed us over Russia was because we're a good percentage of their protection from Putin's expansionism. Out money and our people are doing the EU's defense job for it.

The problems the UK has with the EU are at least 50% of our own making. We volunteer for sh1tty jobs, we follow the rules slavishly, we gold plate everything as if the rules weren't onerous already. Despite our soft courts and punishment systems, I bet we feature a lot at the EU courts. simply because we allow/nay encourage people to endlessly appeal. Our civil service loves the EU like they were twins, lovers and worshippers all rolled into one.
