While things are quiet at BH towers, here's a plug for Shub's article about how the SKS crew wrote their own Wikipedia article and used themselves as references.

Dung, does he give any kind of prediction about when hell is going to freeze over? We have been assured by Global Warming experts that according to their computer aided fabrications, the Arctic is going to thaw all over, and so I am not sure which clothes to pack.

Letter from some French chappy with letters after his name writing to Angus McNeal at the Energy & Climate Change Comission ^.^ is at http://www.parliament.uk/documents/commons-committees/energy-and-climate-change/Correspondence/correspondence-fncs-chair-edf-hinkly-c-130616.pdf

lapogus, some of the nicest people I know are from the green-gaia-pacifist-hippy camp. They are appalled by the atrocities carried out under the banner of their religion. They may be a fairly nutty, and sometimes a bit fruity, but they are otherwise harmless.

GC/SG & AK:

As you mentioned Ramadan, did anyone see this?

Asad Dhunna - a gay Muslim: "To kill someone during Ramadan is not halal"

https://inews.co.uk/opinion/comment/gay-muslim-im-torn-apart-orlando-shooting/

"I would not call this man a Muslim. To kill someone during Ramadan is not halal. This month is a time for reflection, it’s a time of looking around us and being thankful for what we have, it’s a time for breaking bread with others. It’s not a time to commit hate crime."

So it is okay to commit hate crime the rest of the year? The more I learn about Islam the more I fear for the future of northern Europe.

Stewgreen & Alan Kendall

Islam allows the 'rules' of Ramadan to be adjusted as required, but it is of note that the NHS has found it necessary to publish some medical advice

http://www.nhs.uk/Livewell/Healthyramadan/Pages/faqs.aspx

A UK based Muslim Arab GP I knew in the 90s made some very scathing comments (off the record) about all sorts of medical conditions deteriorating due to bad advice from Muslim Clerics. As a GP, his opinions were only sought after things had gone wrong.

Ramadan shifts through the calendar. Fasting through daylight hours is fairly constant in equatorial regions. Summer Ramadan in Northern Europe is not good, though a winter Ramadan is a bit of a doddle nearer the Arctic Circle.

I am not a Muslim.

The team, which is led by first author Richard Betts of the U.K. Met Office's Hadley Center, says that this year will also bring the largest jump in average yearly atmospheric concentrations on record, with a rise of 3.15 parts per million (ppm). During the last major El Niño, however, in 1997-8, the concentrations rose only 2.9 ppm from the previous year's average.
................
However, the current 400 ppm level is not unprecedented in the Earth's history. Scientists believe that the Earth's atmosphere was regularly 360 to 400 ppm three million years ago during the mid-Pliocene era. At that time, water levels were 50 to 80 feet higher than they currently are. Current sea levels have been at a sharp rate of increase, rising an an unprecedented rate of 0.12 inches per year, compared to a sea level that was basically flatlined between 0 AD and 1900.
The Christian Science Monitor ? junk report ?

Stewgreen.
Smoking is also prohibited.
I do wonder what Muslim immigrants do in northern areas of Scandinavia when Ramadan falls in summer.
