@GC:

BBC Radio 4 News. Apparently China is going to stand by its commitments to Paris. Does anyone know what they are?
As far as I can see China has merely committed to 'try' - and as a UN-defined 'developing nation', they do not have to succeed, ever.

I realy hope President Trump selects option 3 and explains fully his reasons. The Paris accord only exists to milk the USA.

I don't know how long things, including tusks, last if they're exposed to sunlight and weather.

Longer than four score years and ten

I think they involve producing as much power as they like, by whatever means, until THEY decide not to. Meanwhile they are happy to make and sell as many solar panels for the export market, as foreign taxpayers are forced to pay for.

Yes @Tomo I should have spotted that,
but the article seemed to be written the way I wrote .
Online version
"All new black cabs on London’s roads must be able run on electric power only from January,
leaving transport officials with just months to build dozens of electric charging points."

..Not really they've got years to build all the charging points ..bet only couple of hundred taxis are sold each month.

It would be really useful to know how much electricity would be required to charge the batteries of London's taxis, and how many windturbines would be required to produce it over a year.

Obviously the wind does not blow all the time, so how many batteries would be required to cope with the vagaries of supply, to match the fairly consistent demand?

Stewgreen - I think that the rules that all NEW taxis must be electric but I bet they haven't thought about Uber etc. They can't even tax them properly. You'd think that they were trying to kill off the black cab.
