"About 90pc of the cars JLR sells in the UK are powered by diesel."
... yes but most JLR cars are for export

@Pcar "500 is less than 0.001% of population."
come on it counts very much to their relatives
And you know you shouldn't count raw deaths but quality adjusted lifeyears
So if those guys get 20 years of good life that is 10,000 NEW human life years saved EVERY YEAR

"In addition, we note that achieving significant emissions reductions, in the international shipping sector, would depend on technological innovation and further improvements in energy efficiency."

Nuclear powers ships and submarines already, and there are zero carbon emissions, so it ought to satisfy the Greens.

Yes, you know it's BBC time, again. Again. "Global shipping in 'historic' climate deal"

Honestly, I wonder where the BBC luvvies think their coffee and chocolate (and most other products from Waitrose) will come from if the world's shipping industry goes back to sailing-boats.

If the BBC think anyone can just reduce the energy consumption of the world's shipping fleet at the drop of a hat, then they need to go back to science and engineering school (Only joking. We all know they never went anywhere near such institutions or courses).

Fortunately, there were some sane voices in the house. Specifically the US delegate who even the BBC quotes as saying:

"We do not support the establishment of an absolute reduction target at this time," he said.
"In addition, we note that achieving significant emissions reductions, in the international shipping sector, would depend on technological innovation and further improvements in energy efficiency."

So once more we have green crazies trying to legally mandate something that cannot physically be achieved, either now or in the foreseeable future. But they are just going to go ahead and try to make laws requiring the impossible anyway.
It prompts me to dig through my memory of other idiots. Wasn't it the State of Indiana that once tried to pass a law defining pi to be equal to 4? As a sometime member of the human race, I am still moved to ask "Where do we get these people from?"

Not that people here need reminding what a pathetic bunch of credulous, pathetic mostly self seeking oafs most of our UK politicians are but a nugget from the archives over at NALOPKT

Jesse Norman (Con, Hereford and South Herefordshire ) is an absolute eejit of the first rank

and a Minister .... opined on Smart Meters a while back

Pcar:

I dealt with an aggressive Staffie that was attacking my rather larger, but passive dog in precisely that way: grabbed by the rear haunches, and lifted bodily up to be left dangling. At that point the owner finally took an interest - just as well, as I was considering tossing him over an adjoining 7ft garden fence along the footpath. The Staffie was completely non-plussed, and was put back on its lead with chain links in finger thick steel. I leave the attire of the owner to your imagination.

@TinyCO2

Excellent instinctive response, good brain!

I've done that too to stop our dog going for pack intruder; stared intruder dog in eye, growled loudly and advanced.

I've made chav staffies roll over and expose belly by doing that. I'm not big, 5' 8".

May organ donation - assumed consent law.

Docu on R4 @ 11.00 today - https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b09yh0kz

Organ Donation charity opposed as they should be a Gift from donor/family not an obligation.

May: "6,000 on waiting list and 500 die every year"

6,000 is less than 0.01% of population.
500 is less than 0.001% of population.

More die every year from Green fuel poverty.

Gov't virtue signalling again rather than tackle real problems eg energy market ruined by Gov't laws, green levy, smart meter scandal, pikey crime.

When I was little, I was playing on the garage floor behind the car when a dog ran in a barked madly at me teeth bared. I was too scared or surprised by coming eye to eye with a strange dog that I couldn't remember how to shout. I barked instead with the same ferocity as the dog. I don't know what I said but the dog ran out faster than it came in.

To halt any dog attack, lift the back legs of the dog and it will stop fighting.

Dogs attack arse first? News to me. I think it should read "..dog attack on someone/dog else.."

Aim is to make dog surrender - dominance.

Grab by neck and chest, flip onto its back and clamp hands around throat whilst shouting stop, down, heal, deck, lie down, bed...
