A load of skeptics on Twitter having a debate with Mark Maslin
who ended by tweeting
"Classic climate change denial"
but the interesting thing is @MhehedZherting tweets don't show up
his accounts been put in restricted
and his past tweets don't show up either
Actually all those Falkirk homes now have magically lower bills
cos surely they've got smart meters
and the advert makes it clear they lower your bills / sarc
The Falkirk eco heating that costs £100pw
that's £14per day
say leccy retails at 14p/KWh
that means each home is buying 100KWh per day
ie 4KWh per hour
that's heating and hot water ..and the people say they really cut back use
A 5KW shower of 6 mins ie 0.1 hours uses 0.5KWh
and the lights will use only a bit
So basically all all the KWh are used by the heating
and surely humans only need 8 hours heat per day, cos you out a lot
So the 100KWh being used in 8hours is 12.5KWh per hour
that's a 4KWh in each of 3 rooms
A lot of heat must be being lost
or something weird like your neighbours heating and carpark floodlights are wired into your meter.

Not disagreeing! If China's lock down of Wuhan and elsewhere is deemed to have been a success in containment, other countries including the EU may be asked to draw up their own plans for locking down towns, cities, regions, countries. This could stretch the resources of Civil Liberties Lawyers, but is unlikely to happen.
I am no supporter of China as it succeeds in increasing its control and influence over the rest of the world, and have no reason to trust any of the statistics being produced! I don't know that medicine outside China is likely to be better able to produce a remedy, cure or vaccination. The Chinese have more Guinea pigs to experiment on.

I get a queasy feeling about China - I have contacts in Chongqing who are normally very (perhaps overly) attentive to my inquiries - they have simply stopped communicating via email and phone (normally they actually make a bit of a nuisance of themselves bombarding you with stuff) - the Alibaba trade site is looking pretty odd too... there's a big and changing page on the virus - obviously officially sanctioned.
As I understand it Hong Kong has effectively closed the border.
We don't need any statistics I feel beyond knowing the precautions that those nearby are taking - Hong Kong is likely to be better informed through direct reports.
golf charlie, No-one benefits from a virus getting out of control. Therefore everyone will be trying to influence everyone else into taking actions to fight the virus.
To fight the virus it needs a cure (good luck) or to stop it spreading.
To stop it spreading people ned to be coerced into accepting restrictions on their movement.
To persuade people to accept reestrictions on their movement the virus must be seen to be as bad as can be.
If the figures aren't real then the worst case figures are the ones that are fabricated..
Re the troll, it's weird he was emphatic about Bish
but actually knew nothing
Like one glance at Bishes twitter shows he tweets all the time
The Chinese puzzle
http://joannenova.com.au/2020/02/coronavirus-huge-ghost-statistics-mysteriously-come-and-go-a-hint-of-much-worse/
"There are claims tonight that a flickering set of figures have appeared that are much higher than the official tolls. These ghostly statistics have appeared three times then switched to the much lower official tally. But each time they grow — almost as if there are two sets of data, one for officials, and one for the public.
Ominously, the flickering death tally was 80 times higher than the official one. The infections were ten times higher. If it’s true the death rate may be far worse than the 2% bandied about.
If they are real, this changes everything. If they are fake, who or what would benefit? A glitch?"

The Nobel Peace Prize is awarded by a committee of five, appointed by the Storting (the Norwegian parliament). According to the rules laid down by the Storting, election to the committee is for a six-year term, and members can be re-elected.
the gong, fancy parchment + cheque amounting to SEK 9,000,000 (£722,366.49) will be presented to the lucky winner at Oslo City Hall in December 2020 I think.
If little madam gets it - we will not get any peace at all till 2021 or likely much later - jeez it'd be tiresome.
Fortunately there is some residual animus between Norway and Sweden (don't talk about the war...) so the Nogs have a bit of a track record of small spites at the Swedes.
Wait till Berlin clocks this:
yep.... that's going to annoy a few watermelon Greens ... yes it is...

the Falkirk bills are lower 'coz the natives got restless - see the links in the typo'd titled discussion thread.
The council could've slashed the electricity bills of their tenants by becoming the electricity supplier - and made a profit.... The SNP huh? - but I suppose that applies to every social landlord outfit....
