When historians get around to describing the late twentieth and early twenty first century hysteria about climate, Andrew Montford will get a big mention as one of the individuals who particularly contributed to turning back this bizarre tide of irrationality. He blogged. Then he started blogging in particular about climate. Then ...

Another page turner! I would like to apply to play Mr. Mann in the after-school special. I'll have to lose some hair and gain some arrogance, but I'm willing to take one for "Our Team".

I wonder if sks'es "secret" forum is rallying the troops to give it bad reviews the moment it is released?

I guess that thinking they might organise Amazon astroturfing would make me a conspiracy nut.

Good show, I like a good pot-boiler.

Oct 11, 2012 at 1:32 PM | Unregistered CommenterGrumpy

Looking forward to reading this!

It might be a bit tricky to visualize a movie version, but innovative filming techniques can show Hockey Team villains drooling and cackling over their keyboards in dark dank chambers, while heroic auditors and skeptics shine internet spotlights from afar.

I hope it will be in the tradition of a Hitchcock thriller: no bloodshed, just intense psychological drama, please.

On order, and really looking forward to a good read.

Possibly should have mentioned that the link above was to Amazon in the US, not UK, and that their comment on our beloved Bishop's book was:

Pre-order the paper (hurray for paper!) version here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hiding-Decline-W-Montford/dp/0957313500/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1349974147&sr=1-1

Dear Author.
Can I add my name to the list?
Will a Kindle edition be made available?

There is much more to this murky mess than any of us imagined. It all appears to have started with international deceit a few weeks before the United Nations was established on 24 Oct 1945.

http://www.my-jia.com/The_Flight_of_the_Hog_Wild/

We seem to be on the verge of economic and social collapse worldwide, and I expect the "truth will out" before the end of the current year, perhaps even before the presidential election in Nov 1945.

It does not matter if Mutt or Jeff is elected. Since 1945, every US President - except John F. Kennedy and perhaps Dwight D. Eisenhower - seems to have worked to form a one-world government.

The wrong side now has the upper hand in the age-old battle of The EGO versus The FORCE

I saw this coming four decades ago, but I could not decipher the puzzle before Climategate in Nov 2009.

I'd prefer the print edition - that way people will see what I'm reading, and I have an heirloom to pass on. On the pre-order list.

Definitely for hardcopy please. Will look very erudite in the Dog and Duck.

Any indications as to roughly when?

Coupled with a copy of Josh's calendar it could be a Blissful Sceptics Christmas.

hmmmm...Bish as much as I thought the "Hockey Stick Illusion" was the most entertaining book I'd read in a long while, isn't this milking it a bit? I mean surely enough has been said on this topic...

"I mean surely enough has been said on this topic..."

I doubt it. Bish usually has a way of bringing clarity to complex stories and I'm sure this will be no different.

I'll be in line.

Can I have a signed Kindle version?

Oct 11, 2012 at 9:49 PM | Unregistered CommenterJohn Silver

I will be amongst those pre-ordering. If it is up to the standards of the Hockey Stick Illusion will be worth a 5-star review on Amazon. However, unlike the reviews for Michael Mann's book, a 5-star review has to be earned from the actual reading and evaluation of the book.

.. in which an accountant who truly believes the sun shines from the arse of a mining consultant shows climate science to be lies straight from the pit of hell.

Be sure to get a right-wing nobody who understands squiggly lines and red noise even less than the author to write the foreword.

Best news I've seen today! Me 'n my Kindle are looking fwd to another fabulous read!

Oct 11, 2012 at 11:37 PM | Registered CommenterHilary Ostrov

What is the purpose of the book: to make money or to spread The Word? If the former then good luck to you. If the latter, then why not make a PDF available for no charge (in the manner of David Mackay's Sustainable Energy - Without the Hot Air)? I might read your book as a PDF, but I would never pay for it.

I had no idea that I was applying an altruistic standard. Does anyone else think I was?

Oct 12, 2012 at 1:48 AM | Unregistered CommenterBitBucket

"I might read your book as a PDF, but I would never pay for it."

Don't pay for it.

Borrow from a library. Ask your friend to lend it. The danger from any book comes from what written in it.

Oct 12, 2012 at 2:30 AM | Registered Commentershub

I have ordered my copy.

Just a thought that, like the HSI, this book might just make a suitable gift for open minded scientists, especially those who currently accept CAGW. There are a lot of genuine folk out there who would be horrified to discover how they have been misinformed.

I will go back to lurking now.

Looking forward to it.

We should take bets on who will post the first 1 star review to Amazon on the day of release without having read the book.

In light of recent events, please note henceforth throughout the known universe that Michael E. Mann is the Lance Armstrong of climate science.
