Watching someone's News on TV at lunchtime and it appears that someone has realised that the UK and Eire have a sea border as well as a land one. They also discovered that a large amount of freight between the EU and Eire passes through the UK. A potential problem I've been wondering about for quite a while, The obvious route EU to Eire for freight is via a Dutch/Belgian/French channel port and via Holyhead (not ignoring Cherbourg and Santander). Not beyond human ingenuity to overcome but something politicians on all sides can spend a lot of time arguing over.

@Pcar Re dellers on Twitter censorship
To the people who say "oh it doesn't matter it's, only Twitter"
IT DOES MATTER, cos bubble-worlds are bad for debate.
This hatey behaviour by libmob started on the Guardian comments 15 years ago and has migrated across platforms.
We get to truth by free and FAIR debate,
...if platforms like Guardian/BiasedBBC/Twitter perpetuate bubble-worlds by banning one side ..then debate is rigged.

If someone spouts bunk on BBC/MSM then we can look to Twitter for a debunk,
.... but if the non-lib side has its hands tied behind its back due to biased pro-lib policies from Twitter, then such truth seeking becomes difficult.

You probably don't want to see the list of chemicals within a packaged lamb biryani , that end up in your stomach, some of them totally uncontaminated by Indian roots, or other spices.

And in this case You'll get theoretically £8610 over 30years = £5,740 over 20

Not great but better than

#2 Solar Water heating cost £5000 save £81 over 3 years

That's 200 years to break even!

Who would have thought that every time you open a packaged lamb biryani you contaminate the atmosphere with that poisonous gas CO2. But the oh so informative bbc news tells us so.

Cheaper to send some top level paint ball teams on a competition along the North African Coast, armed with .177 air rifles, to shoot pink and orange inflatable hippos, before anyone climbs into them.

Supertroll & tomo,

I think Green Eco Warriors should refuse on principle, to have their lives saved by Nuclear powered icebreakers, or at least be asked to contribute towards the cost, confess their sins and campaign for more life saving techical developments and stop sabotaging the rest of the world.

"The BBC is still peddling the myth that they are "rescue ships". "

A 'rescue ship', it seems to me, would simply take whoever it picked up back to the north African shore from whence they came. But it isn't surprising that hear that the BBC think differently.

re:icebreakers

Those are rather lame icebreakers - they've been getting stuck and having to be rescued by proper icebreakers like Odin. Nuclear power makes sense at the poles - the present Russian ships are so optimised for polar work that they have to be towed between poles - I'd guess that might have been addressed on the new builds.

I'm not convinced that the Canadians are getting a good deal there as far as actual icebreaking is concerned unless conversion to razor blades is factored in.

gc
China's hankering after icebreakers is in large part a status thing - also they do provide a rescue service for stranded ecowarriors in the Antarctic and a nuclear one would allow them to rescue more Greenies from the clutches of the ice.

Perhaps China's climate scientists are predicting catastrophic global cooling.
