Hello, Mr Hodgson. I’ve found two of the three: post-truth and fake news. The third one is a more elusive, but you can browse the You-tube site for further info on all three topics. As with all these sources, keep your scepticism levels high, as well as your cynicism, but they do make for interesting viewing.

Minty: I am sure you really do not have to be told this but, when viewing any of the media, you should always keep your scepticism turned up to 11. This is what brought you out to question the “science” of your colleagues, so do not fall into the myths that surround such organisations as the BBC – while it has long been the broadcaster of quality TV, that does not mean that it is always the broadcaster of quality TV (remember Birds of a Feather?). Kate Adie’s report on the Libyan bombings, in the 1980s alerted me to their potential bias in news reports, to have it confirmed, time and time again, ever since. I view the BBC merely as a source of information.

@stewgreen

I do wonder at the "audience" in BBC productions - subjectively imho many shows seem to me to have a limited library of audience responses - those world class production values at work as usual.

ACK & others

The media leaning left or right, or pro or anti the ruling Government has always been the case. People can choose which newspaper to read or buy. I do not have a problem with that. It is more infornative to listen, watch and read the views and opinions of those who have an opposing view, and why, rather than just reject it as being "wrong".

The Guardian may have it's own views on a long list of issues that I don't share, and I am happy for them to continue to do so. Global Warming scare stories are killing millions per year, by condemning them to die through lack of drinkable water, food, healthcare, heating etc. Whether it is a full holocaust (6m) per year, I don't know, but that was the figure that Matt Ridley used. The Guardian champions the fraudulent journalism of Global Warming, and the BBC broadcasts it to the Nation.

If people want to attack Trump, and all they can do is bring up info about him having known people who were in the KKK, that is ok. Where will the BBC and Guardian get their stream of idiot knowledge from, if Skeptical Skience runs out of other peoples money?

Betty Ford started a series of specialist clinics. Mr and Mrs Clinton could do with investing some of their own time and money into a similar programme. They have other peoples money, and a surplus of their own time.

Oh. Sorry, Mr Hodgson (Nov 20, 2016 at 8:54 AM), I hadn’t considered that. I shall see if I can get to the original you-tube version.

Yes BBC comedy is dead to me except stuff like Quote UnQuote
BBC2 10:30 tonight Frankie Boyle post election show is a whinerthon for Trump haters

Peston on Sunday asked 'pointless'@XanderArmstrong about Post-Truth
..He said well we were told to "trust experts", but they keep getting everything wrong.

My point is you don't TRUST any news source and close down your mind.
but rather consider different scenarios in your brain.
That's the whole point we get from Global Warming ..you don't rush to certainty beyond evidence.

Some people did take certainty from the news
eg That Labour,Leave, Hillary would win
and then those people suffered thru shock and lack of preparation.

Personally All R4 nedws is out, it's just a wastwe of time/energy instead Iisten to long form podcasts
and check the @BreitbartLondon and @RT on Twitter cos it's quick.
Today "Migrant Drownings at Record High as Europe Refuses to Turn Boats Back"

"15 protesters arrested after locking themselves onto M4 spur road over Heathrow Airport expansion plans"

@Mark Hodgson:

I even had to switch off the Now Show yesterday, because I couldn't stand the smug, self-righteous stream of propaganda masquerading as humour a moment longer. I don't have a problem with the attacks on Trump and Brexit so long as there's a bit of balance
You and me both! I really no longer find anything funny in the NOW Show, HIGNFY, or the News Quiz. I expect it will soon take over 'I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue'.

There has always been a place for court jesters who can whisper in the ear of the mighty, but these cretinous 'comedians' are no longer whispering.

@Golf coming up on BBC1 in a few minutes
\\The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, this week called for an end to the politics of “fear and division” //
Well that theatre stunt ..was " “intimidation and division”

Those actors have an opinion (probably not 100% the same) ..and they gave their opinion at the ballot box like everyone else.
They do not have the right to use their platform to harass the the Vice President on his night off.
Cos that is intimidation..which causes fear. "Do what we want and you get a night out in peace"

I read the hatchet job the BBC attempted on Breitbart.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/election-us-2016-38005983

Full of adverse quotes and inuendo. (I do not subscribe to Breitbart but I do read it; you often get stories not covered elsewhere and they are up front with their political stance).

I have for several reasons given up defending the BBC and Guardian here, but now I am being told not to believe the whole of the MSM (even Fox News, and Bannon has just attacked Murdock). Much of it is now being labelled "fake news". The question arises, where should I satisfy my quest for acceptable news?
