EM. Ravishing Rattie did not invent Gwendolyn, she outed him/her.

Since Trump's election I repeatedly seem to be in the middle of an Allen Drury political novel - I just hope it's not "Come Nineveh, Come Tyre".

It cannot be Gwendolyn. Radical rodent invented her.

Perhaps I am Candide. I started life full of naive optimism, which has become cynical pessimism down the years.

How is Trump going to reverse the declining coal market?

Interesting that the focus is on who might have hacked the US Democrat Party.

The hackers were able to produce evidence of how corrupt and manipulative the US Democrat's ruling elite had become.

Agree. The focus should be on what Clinton, Podesta, DNC et al wrote; not who leaked or hacked&leaked to wikileaks.

If the above had nothing to hide they would have nothing to fear of the voters knowing.

The "Russia Hacked election" claim by Obama etc is a diversionary tactic fully supported by the MSM.

Your reply to EM is accurate and coherent. Excellent.

EM is irrational.

......Even in the US, economic pressure is driving consumers away from coal and oil to gas and renewables..........

Punitive taxes and policies are not sustainable as "economic pressure", when there are cheaper alternatives. I think Trump may have decided that already.

Unreliables will be relegated to minority interest groups only, if they want to pay the extra money for the privilege of unreliability. There is nothing to stop people from buying as many Chinese solar panels as they like, to reduce the glut of oversupply and keep Chinese employees in work.

Yotties and others without mains electricity will appreciate cheaper solar panels.

I can live with that - although a life peerage would've been more entertaining :-)

Sir Ken Dodd (KT) .-. Knight of the Order of the Tickling-stick.

How tickled I am!

Interesting that the focus is on who might have hacked the US Democrat Party.

The hackers were able to produce evidence of how corrupt and manipulative the US Democrat's ruling elite had become. The US Electorate realised how much they had been lied to by the Clinton and Podesta tribe, including the mainstream media, and unfortunately, the UK's BBC.

Is it known whether the US Democrat Party is having a witch hunt, to punish those that wrote the offensive E-Mails, and hold them accountable for Trump's success? The authors are not denying what they wrote.

As the current Democrat Party has shown such talent, Soviet style, in media manipulation and smear campaigns against their opponents, at home and abroad, why should they be trusted when they blame it on the Russians? It seems Clinton made far more enemies within the rival Democrat camps.

The Clintons would be better off investing their unexplained wealth in the Betty Ford Clinic, or setting up their own version.

After Blair's disasters, the Clintons may not be offered a role as Middle East Peace Envoys, though the Clintons and Blairs seem to have done all right for themselves from covert deals.

Curiously, I am less worried about Trump's climate policies than I was.

EM - I am very pleased to hear that. I was worried that your nightmares had pushed you past some sort of tipping point. It's certainly evident that Donald Trump views climate hysteria as one of the factors involved in the disappearance of blue collar employment.

Someone has to stir the air. You know how fetid the atmosphere gets when this echo chamber is left to itself.

Curiously, I am less worried about Trump's climate policies than I was.

The us produces 16% of CO2 emissions. The big emitters like India and China are accelerating into post-coal economies and taking the other Paris Agreement countries with them. Even in the US, economic pressure is driving consumers away from coal and oil to gas and renewables.

Four years of Triump looks less damaging to the climate than I originally thought. I think the rest of the world can live with that much lag.

On the other hand, his determination to produce an oligarchy, run by the wealthy for the wealthy, is looking more and more damaging.
