TinyCO2. Not at all on a global scale - for some smaller regions (like the North Sea) peak oil production has already occurred, as has peak coal production in the UK.

And always jumping to the wrong conclusions isn't 'interesting', it's just tedious and childish.

The myth is that we've already reached peak [insert fossil fuel], not that there will be a peak some day.

Golf Charlie believes that a ball of rock and iron 8000 miles in diameter can contain an infinite quantity of coal and oil.

Look at the energy generation graph here.

Note how gas generation has increased by 22% since 1990. Coal has dropped by a similar amount.

The reality is that the only way to increase coal use for generation in the US is to make shale gas more expensive.

Which of your beloved fossil fuels do you want Trump to sacrifice? You can maximise coal production or shale gas production, but not both.

Why are peak oil and peak coal green myths?
You don't believe there will come a time when the use of coal or oil will reach maxima, beyond which use will irretrievably decline? Interesting.

Entropic Man 2:41, all Trump has to do in order to increase confidence in coal as an energy source, is to sit down in the Oval Office as President of the United States of America.

To power-up the US economy, and keep energy expenditure within the USA, he then needs to de-power the EPA. This is simple economics, and Trump has a team ready to go.

Peak Oil and Peak Coal are Green Myths. Peak Climate Science is reality.

As the price of oil has steadily risen again, Shale Gas has become a more attractive proposition, along with coal. According to Green Economic Theory, Unreliables should also be more competitive, but Greens have never understood basic economics, and supply and demand. You can't supply power on an unreliable basis to consumers demanding reliability.

Interesting that the focus is on who might have hacked the US Democrat Party.

Even if it-woz-the-Russians-wot-dunnit, it ought to be disturbing that the Republicans, the Democrats' self-defined enemies, were not equal to the task themselves.

Blaming the 'feckless voters' for just acting on the truth seems a bit too convenient for both sides. But, then, they are politicians, I guess.

Pcar?
I think you're the one interested in gatorskin bike tyres.

End of year report for 2016
Distance 3,313.1 km
Elevation gain 25,169 m
Rides 103
Time 153h 42m

The interesting bit, using normal tyres up to May ~1550 km and 5 punctures
May to end of year on gatorskins ~1750 km no punctures

Tyres showing definite signs of wear, scuffs and nicks and so on but lots of life left yet. Currently I'm playing around with pressures. Many roads road here have poor surfaces spray on tar with chippings laid on top. Summer heat and tractors cause a lot the chippings to come unstuck. This gives to two problems, loose chippings at the side and middle of roads. But, in terms of comfort and effort the rough surface left is both uncomfortable and hard work, particularly uphill, compared to the asphalt on the main roads. I haven't found the perfect solution if there is one but stick to 25s as more suited to my requirements.

EM, we disagree about much related to climate issues, but we may be surprised regarding how much else we do agree on. As for this: "I started life full of naive optimism, which has become cynical pessimism down the years." That could have been me writing!
