Discussion > President Trump

Things must be getting desperate.

Isn't it time for you to "move on" from Climate Science smearology and Trump smearology?

Are they linked by funding sources?

PC

do keep up old chap.

Let's see what the Trump DOJ / FBI do about the Smollett business eh?

Mar 29, 2019 at 5:56 PM | Registered Commentertomo

Meh, Mueller - Reasons to be cheerful … - The twenty-something other investigations can now proceed
- Multiple indictments, guilty pleas and convictions
- Senior members of Team Trump, not least his personal lawyer, starting lengthy jail sentences

As to the 'huge cost for no outcome' tosh…

after two years of investigation and directly employing 20 lawyers, 50 assorted law enforcement officers, serving nearly 3000 subpoenas, 500 search warrants and over 500 witnesses called to testify and all of it costing an estimated $33,000,000 to the taxpayer,

The monies surrendered by Trump's corrupt campaign manager under a plea arrangement run to $42 million, which makes the Mueller probe one of the few enterprises associated with Dishonest Don to turn a profit :-)

Heh.

PS Who or what is a Smollett?

Mar 29, 2019 at 6:41 PM | Unregistered CommenterPhil Clarke

$42 million? - really ? - do you have only CNN on 24/7 in the Clarke houshold?

Manafort was a gofer / lobbyist in the past for an absolute carnival of unpleasant international leaders - no wrongdoing specifically linked to Beelzebub though....

It's power politics.

The Smollett business is presently a fire in a waste paper bin - but given Jussie's connections it might just take out a few houses.

Heh, wouldn't the likes of PitiPhil like to ignore Smollet.

One of the funniest things I read, oh about a decade ago, was the response of Chicago taxicab dispatcher when asked about 'The Chicago Way'. He said 'Is that a street or a business?'

$30,000,000 - really? Do you only have right wing conspiracy blogs in your bookmarks?

The property subject to forfeiture by PAUL J. MANAFORT, JR., includes, but is not limited to, the following listed assets:
a. The real property and premises commonly known as 377 Union Street, Brooklyn, New York 11231 (Block 429, Lot 65), including all appurtenances, improvements, and attachments thereon, and any property traceable thereto;
b. The real property and premises commonly known as 29 Howard Street, #4D, New York, New York 10013 (Block 209, Lot 1104), including all appurtenances, improvements, and attachments thereon, and any property traceable thereto;
c. The real property and premises commonly known as 174 Jobs Lane, Water Mill, New York 11976, including all appurtenances, improvements, and attachments thereon, and any property traceable thereto;
d. All funds held in account number XXXXXX0969 at The Federal Savings Bank, and any property traceable thereto;
e. All funds seized from account number XXXXXX1388 at Capital One N.A., and any property traceable thereto; and
f. All funds seized from account number XXXXXX9952 at The Federal Savings Bank, and any property traceable thereto;
g. Northwestern Mutual Universal Life Insurance Policy 18268327, and any property traceable thereto;
h. All funds held in account number XXXX7988 at Charles A. Schwab & Co. Inc., and any property traceable thereto; and
i. The real property and premises commonly known as 1046 N. Edgewood Street, Arlington, Virginia 22201, including all appurtenances, improvements, and attachments thereon, and any property traceable thereto.
The real estate alone is conservatively estimated at $22m, final total probably between $42 and $46 million.

Mueller described Manafort as a hardened criminal who repeatedly and brazenly broke the law. Eminently qualified to serve the Donald, then.

What's that scraping noise? Sounds like the bottom of a bucket...

Mar 29, 2019 at 7:53 PM | Unregistered CommenterPhil Clarke

If you can hear a scraping noise - it's your biucket mate,

The only difference between Manafort and a load of (most all?) political fixers from all sides is that he got caught.

Unlike you I read more liberal left blogs than "right wing" ones.

John Kass on 3/28 @ The Chicago Tribune is good on Jussie Smollett and Kim Foxx.

Is that from a source as reliable as Steele's Dodgy Dossier and Mann's Crooked Stick?

You ought to forward it all to Nancy Pelosi to see if she still thinks Climate Scientist Conspiracies are worth wasting US Taxpayers money on.

Mar 29, 2019 at 9:31 PM | Unregistered Commentergolf charlie

The only difference between Manafort and a load of (most all?) political fixers from all sides is that he got caught.

I guess the Obama Administration just got lucky. But wait, there is an alternative interpretation; viz Trump is a greedy, dishonest, deluded, misogynistic, self-serving, amoral, criminal, incompetent, sociopathic narcissist who recognises a kindred spirit when he needs one.

“Not only did I not get indicted, nobody in my administration got indicted, which by the way was the only administration in modern history that that can be said about. In fact, nobody came close to being indicted, partly because the people who joined us were there for the right reasons. We were there to serve.”

- Barack Obama

All of us, if we are of reflective habit, like and admire men whose fundamental beliefs differ radically from our own. But when a candidate for public office faces the voters he does not face men of sense; he faces a mob of men whose chief distinguishing mark is the fact that they are quite incapable of weighing ideas, or even of comprehending any save the most elemental — men whose whole thinking is done in terms of emotion, and whose dominant emotion is dread of what they cannot understand. So confronted, the candidate must either bark with the pack or count himself lost. … All the odds are on the man who is, intrinsically, the most devious and mediocre — the man who can most adeptly disperse the notion that his mind is a virtual vacuum.

The Presidency tends, year by year, to go to such men. As democracy is perfected, the office represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. We move toward a lofty ideal. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

- H L Mencken

Do, please, tell us more about this Smollett thing, sounds fascinating.

that's quite an acute case of TDS - cheer up - only 5 more years.

Mar 29, 2019 at 11:08 PM | Registered Commentertomo

Heh, wouldn't the likes of PitiPhil like to ignore Smollet.

I genuinely hadn't heard about this before today. So, minor film/TV Actor makes some sh*t up to advance his career, gets found out, pays a 6 figure sum for wasting police time and the authorities decide not to take it further. Is that right?

Seems an odd cause celebre but hey, if that's all you have, knock yourselves out.

Mar 29, 2019 at 11:09 PM | Unregistered CommenterPhil Clarke

That lame comeback can only be down to Mencken Derangement Syndrome.

There have been one or two speculative attempts to get Donald to hold still on the couch. Both Ted Cruz and Bernie Sanders have called him a “pathological liar,” but so have many less partial observers. They then go on to ask: Is his lying merely compulsive, or is he an outright mythomaniac, constitutionally unable to distinguish non-truth from truth — rather like those “horrible human beings,” journalists (or at least spiteful, low-echelon journalists), who, Trump claims, “have no concept of the difference between ‘fact’ and ‘opinion’ ”? PolitiFact has ascertained that Donald’s mendacity rate is just over 90 percent; so the man who is forever saying that he “tells it like it is” turns out to be nearly always telling it like it isn’t.

TDS? No, the exact opposite. Nothing to add on Smollett then? Yesterday's news?

Nobody had heard of Mann before he made up some sh¡t. He has been found out, but you want to protect him.

Nobody had heard of Christopher Steele either, but you still believe his made up sh¡t.

Are you still in denial about your own gullibility, or are you a professional liar?

I can only conclude we have reached Peak Smollett. Shame.

Mar 29, 2019 at 11:52 PM | Unregistered CommenterPhil Clarke

Phil Clarke, I think Peak Climate Science has been reached in the US. The UK and France are following. Who is going to fund all the IPCC's demands for more money to be wasted?

https://wattsupwiththat.com/2018/12/10/trump-says-paris-climate-accord-isnt-working-out-so-well-for-paris-as-riots-engulf-the-city/

@realDonaldTrump
The Paris Agreement isn’t working out so well for Paris. Protests and riots all over France. People do not want to pay large sums of money, much to third world countries (that are questionably run), in order to maybe protect the environment. Chanting “We Want Trump!” Love France.

yeah....

Except that he goes around all the TV and radio stations shooting his mouth off and calling the authorities liars and racists. doubling down on the original story - the police volunteer that they haven't disclosed all their evidence and that what's witheld is even more damning. A mere mortal might've been remanded in custody for something legal to do with perverting the course of justice or similar - except ..... Jussie's got gold plated political connections. I suppose it could've gone all OJ Simpson.

Ms. Foxx has some explianing to do - this is likely going to run - not least because Jussie now feels invulnerable and simply won't shut up..

Mar 30, 2019 at 11:54 AM | Registered Commentertomo

AO-C hasn't worked out that Democrats and their traditional voters have realised the truth about Climate Science and Green Politics. It is a load of sh¡t, guaranteed to lose them money and employment. The TV Campaigns haven't even started yet.

Nancy Pelosi will have to make some kind of statement about Green Austerity, that does not contradict some of her previous statements.

97% of Climate Scientists can't afford to lose their jobs either, but they need to get honest about Mann's Bent Stick, to get a Democrat into the White House. Tough call.

https://wattsupwiththat.com/2019/03/29/climate-bullying/

"My question – why would Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s former supporters be influenced by news outlets they never watch?

If AOC wants to find a conspiracy of people trying to undermine her and her green ideas, she should probably look a little closer to home."

Tulsi Gabbard is a Democrat and look how she's treated in the comments . AOC's sponsors and string pullers (Justice Democrats and others) seem determined to poison American politics further.

With the Mueller probe officially concluding, people are starting to ask:

‘When exactly did Robert Mueller determine there was no Russian collusion/conspiracy?’

The answer is not complex, because all the characters knew there was no Russian collusion/conspiracy, ever. They knew the narrative was created; they participated in the creation; the Russian conspiracy narrative was a necessary element toward the goal of eliminating Trump. Remember what FBI Agent Peter Strzok said:

…”you and I both know the odds are nothing. If I thought it was likely, I’d be there no question. I hesitate in part because of my gut sense and concern there’s no big there there.”
