Terraforming Mars would be such good value - see here (about this blog post).

If they are "terraforming" Mars with CO2 surely the last things they would take is a solar panel and a windmill ?

Actually maybe not given the EROI.

I hate to be a pain, Josh, but most people use two n's in millennia.

[Now fixed - many thanks, my spelling is hopeless! J]

@ HaroldW.

Maybe it's "B.O." that cannot spell?

What a dreadful impression the Martians would get of Earthlings if that lot turned up there!

I have visions of a new chapter of The Little Prince, where L.P. visits the planet of a climatologist.

At least it should be nice and warm for them with the Martian atmospheric comfort blanket of 96% carbon dioxide.

Hah.

Maybe they went there for 'eco-faerie' training, after closing their accounts in banks that fund fossil fuels: http://pindanpost.com/2014/08/20/investment-day-or-faerie-training/

During a Stargazing Live programme, viewers were asked to send in questions to that nice Prof. Brian Cox. I asked him if ,as he seemed to indicate, he was in favour of terra-forming Mars, or if, as an environmentalist, he was in favour of keeping Mars pristine for the benefit of science, similar to Antarctica. Unfortunately I was not blessed with a response from the saintly one.

Did anyone else notice that the Mars rover Curiosity was being reported as having got stuck in slippery sand the day Andrew Lilico wrote his piece? Another reminder of the difference between grand vision and engineering reality?
