Swampy's country cousins

You have to laugh. Swampy it seems, was not the slowest green in the country. Meet his country cousins from up north. When it comes to brightness, these guys are the blackest of black holes:

ANTI-FRACKING protesters who glued and chained themselves to petrol pumps in Great Lever over the weekend were at the wrong garage, it has emerged.

Four people were arrested on Saturday after anti-fracking protesters used glue and bike locks to attach themselves to fuel pumps at the petrol station in Rishton Lane.

The group had chosen to base the protest next to a Total petrol station after the French firm announced it would be investing more than £12 million in the UK’s shale gas industry.

However, it emerged later that the petrol station was no longer owned by Total - but the new owners had not got around to taking the signs down yet.

It's not funny for the owners of the petrol station who have lost a great deal of business. I don't suppose the greens will be compensating them. But we can at least stand back and admire the glorious ineptitude of the ecowarrior.

If there is one thing the greens are good at, it's finding useful idiots. Come to think of it, that is the only thing they are good at.

In the second photo - is the guy in the background ignoring them and filling a can anyway ?

I'd love to see them try and stop Mrs Morph when she needs fuel - she would be incandescent with rage, they might just be illuminated!

Mathematics of happiness debunked by Nick Brown

The astonishing story of Nick Brown, the British man who began a part-time psychology course in his 50s – and ended up taking on America’s academic establishment

Who was he to doubt the work of a leading professional which had been accepted by the psychological elite?

“The answer,” says Brown when I meet him in a north London cafe, “is because that’s how it always happens. Look at whistleblower culture. If you want to be a whistleblower you have to be prepared to lose your job. I’m able to do what I’m doing here because I’m nobody. I don’t have to keep any academics happy. I don’t have to think about the possible consequences of my actions for people I might admire personally who may have based their work on this and they end up looking silly. There are 160,000 psychologists in America and they’ve got mortgages. I’ve got the necessary degree of total independence.”

“Not many psychologists are very good at math,” says Brown. “Not many psychologists are even good at the math and statistics you have to do as a psychologist. Typically you’ll have a couple of people in the department who understand it. Most psychologists are not capable of organizing a quantitative study. ”

Don't Greens ever feel calls of nature? If so, what do they do then?

Jan 20, 2014 at 7:39 PM | Unregistered CommenterRoy

"It's not funny for the owners of the petrol station who have lost a great deal of business."

The unthinking true believers care for no one. The owners of the garage will lose money and have to repair the damage, but these zealots will just laugh.

They are happy to see people die of the cold or suffer significant fuel poverty, they are saving the planet!

Why does the public tolerate such behaviour?

TOTAL a French company exploiting Shale Gas in the UK both EU members.

And President Holland has done to the French Economy what he hes been doing to his other Girlfriend.

So Holland is the way out on a moped probably .Will a new French President have to start Fracking.

So happily Shale saves the Euro

So they wear disposable protest suits. How sustainable is that?
And they indoctrinate their children into protesting with them. Little better than beggar-gangs who use children for sympathy.
And purveyors of very painful puns: "Not for shale" - oww!
Interesting bunch.

They are now officially the Total idiots.

These people are incredibly arrogant. It needs a painful visit to the local county court in addition to the 'criminal' case, which we all know will be worth 9 / 8's of bugger all.

They should get a civil case against those who glued themselves to the pumps and any organisation they claim to be part of. Jointly and severally and all that. May wipe the smirk off their filthy faces.

Should've had a few buckets of water chucked over them, health n safety, make sure they can't catch fire.

£12million is petty cash for Total. Ranked as the world's fifth largest oil company it had an exploration budget of $2.8 billion in 2013.

Amazing stuff that superglue, it can stop leaks.

These people have obviously done the same amount of research on their victims
as they have on fracking. Zilch.

oops wrong thread...

I note that Tina Louise Rothery, of Occupy at St Paul fame, praised the drivers who didn't drive into the forecourt in a tweet. Does she not realise that they didn't go to the fill up with petrol because they equate the protesters with illegal and violent action and didn't want to be attacked by drug crazed hippies. Most people want a quiet life, having to explain to some weirdos that they they need to fill their car so that they can go to work is something they would rather not do. Mainly because such weirdos don't understand the concept of work. Tina Rothery seems to be able not do any proper work, hardly appearing at her marketing job.

I wonder if a Swampy type would get the same treatment on HIGNFY these days, given Hislop's green views?

(If anyone didn't see it, it was like sharks feeding when they realised that he was extremely stupid and shallow)

BBC Look North/ Yorks, have done a number on fracking.

IPlayer :- http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b03q8smr/Inside_Out_Yorkshire_and_Lincolnshire_20_01_2014/

A bloke called Mike Hill is interviewed, heavily involved and heavily biased. In fact, the whole programme could [it probably was] have been scripted by Greenpeace or FoE.

Biased? The BBC - why surely not! Who would have thought it?

Jan 20, 2014 at 11:27 PM | Unregistered CommenterAthelstan.

It's pretty ironic that I'm a lawyer for Total these days.

Jan 21, 2014 at 12:08 AM | Unregistered Commenterswampy

Between the human rights lawyers. corporate lawyers and finance lawyers and the green miasma, and swampy will total the country.

Athelstan

re - Inside Out Yorkshire and Lincolnshire - 20/01/2014

and I thought BBC North West Tonight was Biased when reporting on fracking !!! your clip puts them to same.
disgraceful one sided propaganda aimed at influencing local people, regional BBC reporters should be ashamed.
this needs to be countered somehow.

Jan 21, 2014 at 1:06 AM | Unregistered Commenterdougieh

What is swampy up to these days?

Is he living off a trust fund or inheritance or some other provider?

Jan 21, 2014 at 2:39 AM | Unregistered Commenterjones

I suspect that British law hasn't quite gone as sideways as US law or the station owner might be able to sue the protesters for loss of consortium.

Agreed Dougieh, it was a shamelessly biased negative briefing, it needs to be countered.......................

Jan 21, 2014 at 9:33 AM | Unregistered CommenterAthelstan.

Shouldn't the owners of the Filling Station sue the protesters for individually in the Small Claims Court for loss of business? I understand it's a cheap and easy thing to do. They may not pay, of course, but that will put a huge black mark on any credit records they may have.
