Apr 3, 2010 Climate: HSI A couple of people have asked about US availability for the Hockey Stick Illusion. We are currently discussing a possible deal with a US publisher. While these talks are ongoing we are not going to ship any further copies to Amazon in the States.
I am not confident that we will do a deal, because the publisher concerned is talking about very long lead times to get the book to print - as much as a year. I hope we can persuade them that this is not a good idea. If not, we will start to ship to Amazon.com again and will also start work on ebook editions.
Once again, if anyone knows a tame North American publisher, I'd love to be put in touch.

this makes me a titch unhappy as I ordered the book three weeks ago and have been checking its delivery daily. Not a big deal but it would be a good idea to make sure the existing orders are fulfilled notwithstanding any publishing arrangements.

Many thanks for the recommendation. I've ordered it from Amazon.fr - should be here on Wednesday (free postage too) - much easier than driving to Caen or Falaise.
It might be worth taking a look at LULU, which is one of the biggest publish on demand sites (it was founded by Bob Young, formerly CEO of Red Hat).
They have a variety of optional marketing and PR packages available, but you are still self publishing, so you would be paying the costs (i.e. this isn't offset against a non-existent advance).
As an academic I find the whole notion of being paid for stuff you write confusing. If you're not being ripped off, it's hardly peer-reviewed publication now, is it?

^ Same here - thanks for the tip. Got free shipping to the US as you stated, and the price was about a dollar cheaper than Amazon.
My copy from Amazon.co.uk arrived a few days ago. No problem ordering it.
Of course that doesn't get it into stores, and the 'mainstream'
