Tony N seems guardedly optimistic:

I think the investigation will conclude that the science is sound, but then CRU will clean house. It's the only way to save face. Expect something similar from Penn State.

To really get the ball rolling, a few scientsts, those who have a lot to lose, should be focussed on subjected to a lot heat. Once one spills the beans, a cascade of deserters might result. The good news is that there are many points of attack. The bad news is that the warmists still have a lot of political and media cover. But if public opinion turns ugly - look out. The team is facing some awfully rough riding.

I 've been looking at a Christmas present - the Ordnance Survey's Historic Map of Ancient Britain, copyright 1995 i.e. before the climate boondoggle got monopoly powers. The authors seek to explain their evidence - crop marks, field boundaries, pollen deposits, and so on. Thus they write "It is clear that that what is today regarded as marginal land was cultivated in the past under more favourable climatic conditions..." and "in the Bronze Age, the climate was drier and warmer than it is today...". It's remarkable that the Climate Hoodlums want to make us ignore a century's worth of archaeological evidence while paying attention to dendroclimatology, their dismal failure of a "science".
