I expect these very learned, well meaning and influential members of society will be be able to persuade their community members to make up the difference that has been lost by Trump keeping his election promises.

After all, everything is at stake, and time is of the essence. :)

In fact, the 'influential' Michael Mann supporters would no doubt chip in as well, as would the UEA and associated sponsors.

Entropic Man,
For once I find myself agreeing with you. The right to bear arms is enshrined in the USA constitution for a very good reason to ensure that the citizens are not subject to dictators or bandits. In this country we have ceded our protection to the police, the army (hence the importance of the concept of the Crown). If these bodies loose our trust it is not surprising that we should wish to defend ourselves and our families. So I reiterate I am in favour of arming all police those on the beat on the front line with concealed weapons and specialist firearms units on back up with the army as a last resort. I am not in favour of arming the general public as long as we a properly protected

Guns depend on circumstances
US countryside - Yes
Most areas of UK : NO
Northern Ireland government official ??

South Africa in 1991 : robbers ran into shopping centre, public opened fire on them, cop followed seconds later , cops couldn't tell who the bad guys were.

Mailman

Back when I was a teenager my village buried an elderly couple.

They had been on holiday in Florida. They got lost and knocked on a farmer's door to ask for directions. He shot them.

He got away with it too. He told the police that he thought they were going to attack him.

That is what a gun culture looks like. I want no part of it.

9am BBC Lincs gurgles
Renewables Record more that half electricity was produced from wind, solar and nuclear*
..they produced more that coal and gas combined
(The public would be wondering ..didn't you tell us months back that coal was zero? )
UK sets new renewable energy record as wind and solar surge ..Jillian Ambrose in Telegraph 4:10 pm yesterday
"wind turbines and solar panels help to meet more than half of the UK’s electricity demand."
"First time ever: yesterday in UK renewables generated more power than fossill fuels. " Guardian
"'Spectacular' drop in renewable energy costs leads to record global boost"

* Tweeter puts as "renewables exceeds fossil fuels in UK mix for first time, with nuclear 3 qtrs = low carbon,"
On Twittr Greens are angry fo R4Today including nuclear as a renewable

I note Guardian said this a few days ago
"The Paris deal pullout is more damaging to the US than the climate
The US abandoning the global climate deal brings risks, but the unity of the rest of the world and plummeting green energy costs are reasons for hope"

What rubbish are you spouting now golfCharlie? Marmite™ IS sulphate reduced tar.

Jun 8, 2017 at 9:00 AM | Unregistered CommenterSupertroll

Invariably the fields become contaminated with sulphate reducing bacteria that turn hydrocarbons into unproducible tars within the reservoirs. So technology could be hype or the best thing since sliced bread.

Jun 8, 2017 at 6:20 AM | Supertroll

Some people might find that sulphate reduced tars spread on white bread are more palatable than marmite.
