Breitbart: Conservative cabinet minister Ben Gummer, widely tipped as a "rising star" within the party and the author of the 2017 Tory manifesto has lost his seat.

@JuliaM

Re: Election Day

Well said and I feel the same.

It's like a choice between a dictator and the grim reaper with his four horsemen of the apocalypse.

On balance, a dictator is better.

Note: no UKIP candidate

Living in Northern Ireland I have always regarded armed police as a necessary evil, but have never liked it. During the troubles the IRA would shoot at the army on busy streets hitting civilians too, hoping to use their own people as human shields. The army would return fire and along with the dead IRA men would inevitably sometimes be civilian casualties. I would hate to see that becoming normal on the streets of England

Fixed. Now Agree

Guns depend on circumstances
US countryside - Yes
Most areas of UK : NO
Northern Ireland government official ??

Agree

.
@Ross Lea

If/When GB Police stations must be like these, all police armed may be necessary.

1. Armagh Police Station
2. Short Strand
3. Short Strand police station
4. Bushmills - village near Giants Causeway
5. Bangor - small largely (secular) middle class seaside town with little terrorist activity

Entropic man can provide descriptions of Armagh & Short Strand, mine may be too non-PC even for BH.

I agree with @Ross that science and religion are incompatible (Though many people disagree)"
I am one of these because they can co-exist, side by side: incompatible, so different in nature as to be incapable of coexisting.

"Science is special : it says you can't act without proof"
It doesn't. Evidence is needed to construct a hypothesis, which can become a theory, but it is the integration of it into the existing theory and the strenuous search for information to disprove the hypothesis that makes it special. Most Science theories are just approximations to reality and if they were reality, we wouldn't know that. Proofs should be left to geometry lessons.

"Dogma says no, belief is enough"
That is the non-believer's cynical view of the believer. The believer will have either witnessed, or hoped to witness, something that can be shown to 'prove' the agenda. That is like Climate Change!

"So small boy is not free to challenge the emperor no matter how good his evidence"
He can, but there are consequences.

"But in a science system he can.."
Hopefully true, but often not when ever money, power or influence are involved, or an emperor present. Science is no guarantee!

"The evidence against religion is that no one ever came back from the dead and communicated with the living."
I don't understand how this is relevant. I would describe a religion to be a cultural system of behaviours and practices supported by a common belief system and values that may be rational, or logical, or both, or neither. It may help or it may hinder, but it will encourage kinship.

Without a common belief system, language and values it would be difficult for a community to function as a community. It is why making multi-culturalism a goal is so unstable.

For BBC's Katty Kay most important thinhg is to campaign against Trump
as regards Paris she tweets
"By a more than 5 to 1 margin, voters say the U.S. should participate in the Paris Agreement"
Wow I say
First thing I see in the report is
\\Margins of error for the state data are +/-10%//
Therefore her robust headline is not justified

I suspect the activists cherrypicked the survey
We know most Americans are not passionate about Climate never mind Paris agreement
First you have to account for all the activists that are opposed to it, cos it's a fudge.

Science is special : it says you can't act without proof
Dogma says no, belief is enough
+ Thus dogma is dominated by hierarchy
So small boy is not free to challenge the emperor no matter how good his evidence
But in a science system he can..

The evidence against religion is that no one ever came back from the dead and communicated with the living.

"ALL mystical religions have no basis in science ..."
That is a truism. It doesn't mean, though, that they are useless or pointless. Science isn't everything.

"There is no empirical evidence, that stands up, to support any of them."
That would be hard to prove, 'any of them', past, present or future. and for any particular one, I am sure the unbelievers would never accept any evidence anyway, even if it hit them in the face, (and was true :) ). Just look at how Sceptics are viewed by Climate Change Believers as an example of this.

Perfect knowledge and logic do not a perfect world make, let alone an enjoyable world, so it is easier to view them as different world views where results can be judged and the inner workings are black boxed.

Tamsin was the normal
Didn't bang on like an alarmist, but didn't take the opp to join us in telling the full truth
( That MSM/activists are bonkers and Paris is a toothless CO2 deal
So Trump is not a demon for pulling out
Rather US has been most successful in reducing CO thru fracking)
She did say that
- individual states are free to have Paris plans so it doesn't stop the program
- Paris plans are reviewed every 5 years
- That goal of 2C was a bit arbitrary
That US staying out now could make 0.17C difference and if they stay out more than 5 years 0.3C
(Not sure about her figs ..cos it s a load rubbish to say you can put CO2 measurements into a model and predict temperatures, never mind that Paris is so vague that India China could end up putting out whatever CO2 amounts)

There seemed to be zero reaction to the prog on twitter

'hate crime' is part of the BBC bubble, so I used it, ironically.

As well as being soon after two terrorist stacks, we are still in the middle of a General Election, so it shouldn't have had any current politicians.

And would anyone else get away with it? :)

Mind you, it's not quite as bad as a severed head as part of comedy.

RT coverage of COmey is way better than BBC
highlighting the errors MSM media made
- Comey did confirm that Trump was right to say that Trump was not under investigation by FBI
- NYT had a big story, but Comey said it was all wrong
- However Comey said he felt Russians had influenced the election , but offered no evidence.
- There was no instruction to stop investigateion just "I hope you can sop this investigation of Comey"
The BBCNews/breaking twitter feeds have been obsessed with Comey all day
