AK, I think that's what stewgreen is getting at. The Tories are supposed to be the nasty party but the geen/environmental types are always hoping something horrible happens to mankind. Disease as a retribution for sins is pure religious mumbo jumbo. Disease might be partly a consequence of behaviour but mostly it's competition. The bug wants to spread. It doesn't want to kill you, that's just an accident.

Reports of unrest amongst the people and factions within Iran should not be doubted. Iran's regime will want to eradicate evidence of unrest.

In Australia, James Cook University wants to fossilised its record of lies and stupidity

https://wattsupwiththat.com/2020/01/13/the-bush-needs-to-burn-climate-obsessed-greens-ignoring-indigenous-wisdom/
"h/t Peter Ridd; Climate obsessed greens are ignoring advice from indigenous people to burn the bush, to prevent a bushfire catastrophe.

But Professor Reece of James Cook University, Peter Ridd’s old institution, claims traditional wisdom “has limitations”, because of the changes white people have wrought on the land – climate change and settlement."

"I don't remember the Guardian running an article about academics being sacked for not supporting the climate change religion... " Mark Hodgson

The complete opposite applies, The Guardian celebrates the firing of whistle blowers sacked for exposing Climate Science corruption. The BBC has also given publicity to Great Barrier Reef is DOOOOOMED stories, that have been based on lies and corrupted research.

https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2019/aug/28/great-barrier-reef-expert-panel-says-peter-ridd-misrepresenting-science

Now the research papers have been exposed as using results that can not be reproduced, the combined/conjoined experts of The Guardian and BBC have gone quiet.

"Climate change: Australia fires will be 'normal' in warmer world
By Matt McGrath
Environment correspondent"

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-51094919

"UK scientists say the recent fires in Australia are a taste of what the world will experience as temperatures rise. Professor Richard Betts from the Met Office Hadley Centre said we are "seeing a sign of what would be normal conditions under a future warming world of 3C". While natural weather patterns have driven recent fires, researchers said it's "common sense" that human-induced heating is playing a role. Matt McGrath is the BBC's Environment correspondent."

Did I read that right? "...natural weather patterns have driven recent fires...". You wouldn't think so from the BBC coverage of the events.

"Australian fiction is already challenging the idea that catastrophic bushfire is normal
The stories we tell about bushfire are changing. Our writers have been grappling with its link to climate crisis for years"

https://www.theguardian.com/books/2020/jan/14/australian-fiction-is-already-challenging-the-idea-that-catastrophic-bushfire-is-normal

What an uncanny coincidence! The BBC and the Guardian run with exactly the same story, and a very similar headlines:

"Australia bushfires are harbinger of planet’s future, say scientists
Apocalyptic scenes give glimpse of what would be normal conditions in 3C world"

If - as regularly claimed by the Guardian - turbines are now cheaper than fossil fuels, why do they stop building them when the subsidies dry up?
Jan 13, 2020 at 7:19 PM Mark Hodgson

Why don't Guardian Financial experts advise Guardian readers to crowd finance wind turbines?
