The Guardian's income and news feeds cut. Opportunities for career progression halted for Guardian journalists?

As I know this will be picked up I’ll make the case that this isn’t daft.
https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2020/jan/29/climate-breakdown-is-increasing-violence-against-women

In most parts of the world, women are already disadvantaged and lack land rights and legal rights, so are vulnerable to exploitation. When the additional stresses caused by the climate crises bite, they are the first to be targeted.

In other words, when people are badly off it’s those who are weakest who are worst off. And in the Third World women are weakest so women are worst off.

In fact, if we are going to use AGW as a justification for any imperial interference then a justification for that interference being for equal rights seems like a good thing.
Better than most things anyway.

As @MC mentioned yesterday
XR FIVE’S TRIAL ENDS BY ERROR.
Judge derides prosecution for ‘abject failure’ to conduct case properly as key witness goes on holiday by mistake

XR 5 awarded travel expenses

Bystanders would ask why such errors always work in the favour of libmob
and not in favour of people who oppose libmob ?

https://order-order.com/2020/01/29/bloated-bbc-news-announces-450-job-cuts-staff/

"BBC News’ Director, News & Current Affairs, Fran Unsworth, is leading a meeting explaining the ‘modernisation’ of the BBC to around 130 employees in the room, and many more elsewhere watching on an internal live stream. She has announced 450 job losses…"

Strange how the first name mentioned should be Fran Unsworth

"These days it seems to be stuffed of climate change propaganda and trivia, and precious little science.

The BBC employed many churnalists to promote EU Good v. BREXIT Bad. Those failures are now trying to save themselves and Climate Scientists from unemployment?

George Monbiot

The Guardian is encouraging policies to guarantee malnutrition, particularly amongst the poorest, unable to afford luxury life style shopping.

As the World remembers the 75 years since the end of the Holocaust, The Guardian promotes its fascist ideology.

Polish coal-mining until 2044 = bad.
German coal-mining until 2038 = just fine!

They are "Pleading the Fifth"

https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2020/jan/29/grenfell-inquiry-thrown-into-confusion-over-legal-move-by-witnesses

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fifth_Amendment_to_the_United_States_Constitution
"The self-incrimination clause provides various protections against self-incrimination, including the right of an individual to not serve as a witness in a criminal case in which they are the defendant. "Pleading the Fifth" is a colloquial term often used to invoke the self-incrimination clause when witnesses decline to answer questions where the answers might incriminate them."

"Poland’s coal appetite angers its neighbor
Plans to continue mining lignite in a border region is leading to regional tensions."

https://www.politico.eu/article/poland-polish-coal-appetite-angers-its-neighbor-czech-republic-prague-germany/

"Efforts by Polish state-owned utility PGE to expand a brown coal mine near the Czech border is putting Poland at odds with Prague — normally a close ally on energy issues.

The Turów mine's current license expires in April. PGE's goal is to continue mining until 2044 and to expand the mining area to just 100 meters from the border.

...The convoluted shape of the border close to the mine means there are objections to the plan from Germany. The town of Zittau, just across the border on the German side, is also upset about how PGE has addressed cross-border pollution and noise from the mine and the power plant.

...Zittau is in Saxony, a mining region which has committed — along with the rest of Germany — to phase out coal by 2038...."
