Looney green tunes

Just when you thought our environmentalist friends couldn't become any more absurd, they have to go and outdo themselves. The editor of the Ecologist, Westminster and Oxford educated Oliver Tickell, son of the equally silly and equally posh Crispin Tickell (also Westminster and Oxford), has just written a post arguing that the Paris terrorist attacks were intended to disrupt the COP21 climate talks, driving up oil prices and putting petrodollars in the pockets of ISIS. Oh yes, and western oil interests were probably in on it too.

So, assuming - as seems probable at this stage - that the Paris outrage was carried out by or for ISIS, was it in any way motivated by a desire to scupper a strong climate agreement at COP21? And so maintain high demand for oil long into the future, together with a high oil price?

Let's just say that it could have been a factor, one of several, in the choice of target and of their timing. And of course ISIS was not necessarily acting entirely on its own. While not alleging direct collusion between ISIS and other oil producing nations and companies, it's not hard to see a coincidence of interests.

Blimey, he's so bonkers you half expect Paul Nurse to try to squeeze him into the Royal Society alongside Ehrlich.

'It's all explained at length in credible blogs like DeSmog, RealClimate, and Skeptical Science.'

Aila, it's a phony declaration. The only evidence you give for its truth is the statement itself. Give us specific explanations, not BS.

Reuters Site reporting Paris attack has triggered an Eight Month low in oil price.Apparently the US and the West has stockpiled huge Oil reserves for further Middle Eastern Conflict.

Ironic the only truly effective weapons against ISIS has been increased Middle Eastern Oil Production and a massive decreased Oil Price.

ISIS has lost its biggest export which is Oil and is now having to reply on its next biggest and only export which is Terrorism and Refugees.

So an ISIS attack on a Climate Conferance specifically designed to target gas and Oil production would have been counter productive for IS.

Well, if this theory catches on western governments will be able to show that they are doing something about terrorism by rounding up "climate deniers" without facing accusations of "Islamophobia."

Gamecock, you must remember how accurate 'credible blogs' like Real Climate, DeSmog and Skeptical Skience, have been over the disappearance of Arctic Ice, Peak Oil, Global Warming, billions of dollars, and let us not forget Trenberth's missing heat. With any luck, Climate Science will be next to disappear.

The Ecologist is a "high" credibility publication, with 'high" quality control.

.............."high" as in one imagines they must have been "stoned off their faces"

One imagines the team were desperate for an article which will fit between their wind and solar company ads.
And in their heightened state of mind, the quality control consisted of "yeh, man, this 'll do , awesome man !"
..I wonder if they have applied the same level of quality control to their normal articles about Climate Catastrophe theory ?

Halting the Climate talks?

Raising the price of oil?

I'd have thought that, the Daesh were enthused and zealously so with the idea of the western nations impoverishing their countries in the name of saving the planet and riding on the vehicle of the green mania industrial suicide bandwagon.

Either or, it's back to the dark ages, a wet dream for the liberal claque who name themselves as 'progressives' and a deliberate certainty under those who wish upon us Ummah and the Caliphate.

In 2002, 2006 and 2010 Oliver Tickell was a candidate in elections for Oxford City Council, representing the Green Party, but was not elected.

Thank God for that- the man is barking.

However he fits in perfectly with the "greens"

There is that, too, Golf Charlie. Touting anti-science websites on a science website is a joke.

But before that is the unsubstantiated claim "you deniers will find the truth here." That's not the way the interweb works - you must make your counter claim (and provide a link to it if you wish). Providing just the link is stoopid. "You deniers will find my counter arguments over here if you go look for them." Silly.

The Ecologist and the Green (Ecology) Party were founded by Edward Goldsmith, a man even Monbiot called out as a being on the extreme right.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/obituaries/politics-obituaries/6089129/Teddy-Goldsmith.html

Black Shirts in Green Trousers by George Monbiot

The far right is moving in, and greens and globalisation campaigners must do more to shut it out.

The BNP is not the only force on the far right which now describes itself as “the true green party”. Similar claims have been made by members of Le Pen’s Front National, by the Vlaams Blok in Belgium and, in Britain, by a tiny offshoot of the National Front which calls itself Third Way. This is the group which most clearly articulates the way in which the politics of the hard right are shifting.

The previous editorial team split with its founder Teddy Goldsmith after he addressed a meeting of the hard right Groupement de Recherche et d’Etudes pour la Civilisation Europeene. Goldsmith, whose politics are a curious mixture of radical and reactionary, has advocated the enforced separation of Tutsis and Hutus in Rwanda and Protestants and Catholics in Ulster, on the grounds that they constitute “distinct ethnic groups” and are thus culturally incapable of co-habitation.

In a tribute to Mr Tickell, we should not attribute a link to his Green thinking, so carefully cultivated by his father, and deliberate policies to ensure continued deaths through deprivation in under developed countries.

It was deemed politically correct to stop referring to countries as 'under developed' and instead refer to them as 'developing'. Green thinking has deemed it better to keep them 'under developed', with no hope of ever 'developing'.

Was Sir Crispin Tickell knighted for services to Inhumanity? Wikipedia, via Private Eye, are not very complimentary about Oliver Tickell, and his own recent support for deranged conspiracies, absolving Arabs from mass murder.

Roy Spencer stuck his pencil in along the same line

Yes, all of the world’s politicians who have supported a COP21 agreement should still plan on attending. And they should reach out to ISIS to join them in building a better world…a world without droughts.

Jamspid, I meant no disrespect to the Lebanese.

But my point was that ISIS have attacked two of the permanent members of the UN security council in the last month.
That's number 4 and 5 in the world for Defence spending.

Yes, there will be some repercussions from Beirut. But there will be far more repercussions from Sharm and Paris.

Already France is considering working with Russia to fight ISIS.

esmiff thanks for the interesting youtube link.

USA created power vacuums in Iraq, Afganistan and numerous other countries that have been invaded or manipulated by the USA and the West. ISIS has risen from these vacuums.

America’s Middle East policy revolves around oil and Israel. The invasion of Iraq has partially satisfied Washington’s thirst for oil, but ongoing air strikes in Syria and economic sanctions on Iran have everything to do with Israel. The goal is to deprive Israel’s neighboring enemies, Lebanon’s Hezbollah and Palestine’s Hamas, of crucial Syrian and Iranian support.
ISIS is not merely an instrument of terror used by America to topple the Syrian government; it is also used to put pressure on Iran. Now the Russians have thrown their hat into the ring who knows where it will lead.

In the mean time the innocent people of the western world suffer the consequencies.

While chasing down an obscure reference I came across the following posting from 13.1.15 concerning the dry run for this atrocity.
http://bishophill.squarespace.com/blog/2015/1/13/those-lovely-bbc-journalists.html
One small sub-paragraph of the Charlie Hebdo incident was an assault on a kosher supermarket in which 4 people were killed, which became the focus of this particular post. Debate centred around the responsibility of Israel in respect of the "cause" of this act of terrorism. Funny that the Israeli element has completely disappeared from the list of "causes" of the current Jihadist activity, now Western (and Russian) chicanery and Climate Change are in pole position.
Could it be that the "west" has finally woken up to the fact that they are the real objective of the Jihad and that Israel has passed its usefulness as a surrogate.
This old posting is worth a read and more than a few contributors would benefit from a little revision.

Not only are UK comments clever and often funny, they're also literate (which can't be said for the usual commenters on this side of the pond). The only problem is, we're all "preaching to the choir" of deniers and skeptics.

Thanks, guys, for the entertainment.

DetroitIron, "deniers and skeptics"?

That's a very offensive name.

It's "deniers and sceptics"?

Nov 15, 2015 at 9:38 PM | Registered CommenterM Courtney

Just for you Detroit

Back in the day Climate change or global warming was jumped on by certain politicians to cajole countries en masse to introduce an alternative source of energy in the attempt to be less reliant on the oil producers of the world and maintain western uum 'supremacy'. It was then jumped on by the financial troughers and everybody else who thought they could make a large fortune at Joe Public's expense. And so the momentum grew. ISIS and Israel is a slightly different bucket of worms but still boils down to the West trying to maintain control over anything that could be a threat.
For what its worth Climate Science which has been bought out has nothing to do with climate change the IPCC construct sees to that.

The invasion of Iraq has partially satisfied Washington’s thirst for oil

How?

US produces more of its own oil now than at any time in the last twenty years. Less than 15% comes from the Persian Gulf and almost all of that is from Saudi.

Oil from Iraq goes on the market anyway, it's not funnelled by a secret pipeline to military victors.

geoffchambers.

This, too, speaks to a profound self-loathing in the West, where the media and political elite’s fear is always how their own societies, and what they see as their inscrutable fellow citizens, a ‘confused and anxious’ mass, will behave. They condemn the terrorism, yes — but they fundamentally fear and loathe the societies they live in, the people they live among.

Yet while it might be sporadic now — this musing that France deserved the attack; that we Westerners need a ‘taste of fear’; that the problem is not those who massacre 120 people but our own bovine native populations who allegedly harbour a far greater violent urge — it will spread. It is now the narrative that follows all acts of terrorism in the West. From the massacre at Charlie Hebdo (they were offensive, so what did they expect?), back to the 7/7 bombings (widely blamed on British foreign policy), to 9/11 itself (described by a Guardian writer as natural payback for what America has ‘visited upon large parts of the world’): the story from leading liberal observers and significant sections of the political class is always that the West, by being cocky, modern, allegedly racist, and with a chequered history, invites these attacks, needs them, must change its ways in response to them — must apologise, self-flagellate, denounce itself.

Now again, read, mark and inwardly digest.

Then muse on, the fact that we indoctrinate our own children to hate the country of their birth. A post normal education, it fills kids heads with political guff so designed to induce dubiety, vacillation, confusion and to loathe the history, culture and traditions of their nation. The Marxists desire is to sow and inspire chaos, that's their game the green agenda is just but a small part of it, mass immigration is another, destruction of the modern state is the goal.

A left leaning media bleating and shouting "bombing, mass murder - you deserved it" is part of the pattern of sowing and seeding chaos.

Just an observation ... The mess in the ME is highly amenable to projection since it's a veritable morass of conflicting allegiances, ideologies and connections when looked at from the outside and even more tangled when viewed from inside and it's easy to select a section of the kaleidoscope and obsess about it.

That a deluded provincial Brit green fanatic who's repeatedly failed at the lower echelons of municipal politics has a few fairly random neurons firing about it shouldn't really warrant much attention - if it were not for his social standing and connections... - which actually do reach into the corridors of power.

Anybody who thinks that the corridors of power operate rationally using evidence based decision taking simply has to read Thomas E Ricks' Fiasco and if one wants to understand the enmity between the Wahabbists and the French Fifth Republic they need to read Yaroslav Trofimov's The Siege of Mecca - throw in banditry and murderous religious schism and the picture starts to get a bit of focus. There are also many other aggravating regional factors which make for a very difficult place to live and get on with the neighbours....

Tickell junior's "analysis" on this matter is about as reliable as his woeful wibblings on other subjects.

@Ross Agree, the big thing is that the Warmists are not calling him out on this, just like I said in my first post. Everyone including Tickhill is entitled to have one day of fuzzy thinking, but he should be called out on it.
I just went back and checked the links I gave for responses on their Facebook* and Twitter page and its's still the same pattern : that there's not heaps of endorsements, but neither are there any criticisms from their own side, rather they keep their heads down. And that is not good enough, that amounts to tacit approval.
- That kind of dishonesty has always been the hallmark of the alarmist side as they refuse to come to the table, and circle the wagons at sign of criticism..It makes it look like they know their case does not stand up to criticism.

* just my post pointing out that ISIS refineries were targeted twice recently
..As I said looks like he was smoking something strong before he wrote this piece.
It should be obvious that ISIS are under pressure RIGHT now, Russian bombing US bombing, French bombing so the price of oil in 30 years time is not their priority.

albert is the leading body tacking the environmental impact of the UK screen art industry.
albert+ is a sustainability certification scheme for screen art productions.

"Environmental and sustainability issues have long been reflected in the programmes and content we make and broadcast, and it is important to us that they are also embedded in the way we operate and run the BBC

other buzz words
: "BBC Sustainability" name of their Green dept
: The Difference : "Our sustainability strategy is called The Difference"
..They are recruiting (cos a larger BBC means less CO2 ?)
Carbon Literacy Training : 2015, "this is a collaboration between the BBC, ITV, Peel Media, dock10 and Creative Skillset. .. give employees the skills and motivation they need to thrive,.. in the low-carbon economy. ..course available for all BBC staff." "Inspire and train staff to behave responsibly towards our environment" (brainwash) ..."aim for 400 staff to complete the course in its first year"
more PDF ..see RHS of page
: "BBC sustainability Advisory Group" :a gravy train for external green advisors.
I would have thought downsizing the BBC would be a big contribution to reducing CO2..yet they don't seem to support that !
Sorry but if a biz lis financially efficient the lower it's CO2 is surely ?
by thinking about CO2 first aren't you more inefficient ?
I am unable to find the "BBC Sustainability" units budget.. to asses if they are VFM
