Decarbonisation amendment defeated

Tim Yeo's rebel amendment to get a mandatory decarbonisation target included in the Energy Bill has been defeated, by 23 votes.

Economic suicide has therefore been averted, at least temporarily. Yeo is calling for the amendment to be resurrected in the Lords.

The difference between Yeo and Mercer is that Yeo is more blatant. Mercer didn't think anyone was listening when he accepted the sting. Yeo publishes his interests in "green" and how much he rakes in and STILL makes brass-necked speeches clearly designed to fill his trousers - as a side effect, of course, of his well-considered amendment (in case any lawyers are reading).
