It matters not the reason why the offender did or said what he did, the offense is doing or saying it. You could, I suppose, campaign to reduce Judges' powers but I've not seen you attempt to argue that here.

It matters because Tommy did or said nothing others in MSM and on social media had already done or said, was being done at same time and place by Mo, and has been done/said since. No others have been charged, let alone jailed.

I've said Judges & Magistrates "Contempt" definition & powers are too broad and open to personal abuse.

Justice must be seen to be equal and fair - neither met in this case.

Re: Fairtrade

Fairtrade is another Left SJW scam to make them feel virtuous. Provides plenty of well paid jobs for them & their children whilst keeping the subsistence farmers trapped in poverty

Opposition to free speech is not confined to the groves of academe.
- In the annual General Assembly of the Church of Scotland a couple of years ago I was howled down for expressing doubts about climate alarmism and suggesting Fairtrade was more market manipulation than "fair".
- An old Kirk leader took me aside afterwards: "Cant you question something less controversial such as the divinity of Jesus Christ?"

I think it was the destruction in both cases rather than any religious implications. I suspect they would have approved of the saving of the Elgin Maebles and the artifacts from Mésopotamie. What they'd think about giving them (The Elgin Marbles at least) back I'm not sure. It does seem that Cromwell and his men operated in the same way as daesh destroying and selling depending on the value and portability.
It's why the Crown Jewels are modern and the Scottish Crown Jewels which were hidden until the time of Walter Scott are much older.

I don't think Henry VIII was ever a Protestant, his first daughter wasn't but his second definitely was.

The cost to European Catholics, of building St Peter's Rome, and the Sale of Indulgences caused a bit of bother with Martin Luther.

Henry did asset strip "The Church" and all Ecclesiastical property of removable goods and chattels, the Puritans whitewashed what was left.

The Victorians did splash a bit of gold paint about.

Modern archaeology and restoration techniques, have enabled the past glories to be seen again, but it is expensive and some don't want to see what we have all been missing.

I THINK in this "Case" it would be upto Tommy Robinson to appeal his sentence. But on what grounds? If the jail term was meant as the only way to prevent him from offending again, BEFORE Trial 3 is over, then based on his previous Contempt for all matters Legal ....?

Judge John Deede and Game of Thrones are programmes I have not really watched as their timing was never convenient. BUT at least your knowledge is based on UK Law. Too many Pub Law experts have gained their lack of knowledge from US films, television AND live broadcasts from within US Courtrooms.

Unfortunately, many Pub experts learn about Islam from one or both of two sources:

1. The Turkish/Cypriot kebab vendor they stagger into on the way home. Islam does preach being respectful towards those seeking sustenance for mind body and spirit. From a business point of view, they are not going to offend regular customers either.

2. Homicidal extremists

The views and actions of homicidal extremists will always attract the weak and gullible, and shape their misconceptions into extremist views and activity.

\\ The BBC turn the sea into an instrument of political campaigning by appealing to fear & sentimentality rather than critical reflection on the facts.//
