But I'm a happy bad person ZDB. I stopped caring about CO2 ages ago, one way or the other. The solutions are too puny to work and the science is too crap to force the actions that would be needed to make a difference. My CO2 footprint is small. Who is the biggest sinner - me or all those people in Davos? You're like the Catholics who prefer to blame child victims of priests than the priests themselves.

Mark. Zeb is to be experienced and enjoyed, never to be argued with. In small doses.

Messenger. Thank you for your recommendation. It is of course the second movement of the Concierto de Aranjuez that affects me so deeply and the Concierto de Andaluz follows a similar format. The first and third movements are not depressing.
I used to take every opportunity to experience live performances. I have heard a version where the guitar is replaced by a harp (very weird) and in Israel one where a vocalist took that role (a mistake IMHO).

Never, ever try to reason with a troll. I give up.

DAB post code checker for Cumbria (I'm not going to tell you where exactly I live, because providing that information to a troll wouldn't be the wisest thing to do) but postcode checker (for my bit of Cumbria) just told me this:

"Unfortunately you don’t currently benefit from DAB coverage, however there are plenty of ways to enjoy digital radio that are still open to you, with a range of Apps, Internet Radios and Smart Speakers that all offer Digital Radio services – see the full range of ways you can enjoy Digital Radio here."

Like I said - smart*rse.

By the way, some of us not yet of retirement age, but clearly well past it in your judgement, can also use the internet to look things up. Some parts of Cumbria have DAB reception, some don't.

Why the resurection ZDB, didn't you get enough of a punishment when Brexit, the Tories and Boris won? I and all the other right wing nut jobs feel your pain.

ZDB, I have never denied that CO2 contributes to warming the planet. I doubt if anyone contributing here denies it either. But of course the discussion is much more nuanced than that.

Just a few issues arising, include whether the doomsayers are right in their claims that the warming will inevitably bring catastrophe. Whether we in the UK should cripple our economy and condemn millions to fuel poverty by trying to achieve "net zero" in unfeasibly short time limits, while countries like China continue to increase their emissions (already around 30% of the world's total, with a higher per capita emissions rate than in the UK). Whether some of the "solutions" offered up are really solutions, or whether they might things worse - e.g. we were all told to drive diesel vehicles because they emit fewer GHGs than petrol ones, now we're told they're the work of Satan; or the palm oil plantations that have led to the devastation of the Indonesian rain forest because biofuels are "green".

Of course, it's so much easier to lie about people's beliefs and to label them as "sceince deniers" and to mouth platitudes than it is to have an intelligent conversation where nuance and implications matter. It's easy to tell us that the world is on fire and that we need to reduce our GHG emissions. It's a lot harder to achieve that in an intelligent and practical way. What are your solutions, since you're so clever - do tell.

And I see you've just ignored/sidestepped the other areas where I demonstrated that you're wrong.

As I said - troll, but do feel free to prove me wrong with your detailed scientific explanation of how we can save the world without destroying it and our lifestyles at the same time.

By the way, not that I live there (though I don't live that far away), the Pennines are on the English side of the border, since you seem to be unaware of that.

"Raft of new digital radio stations to hit the airwaves in Cumbria"

https://www.timesandstar.co.uk/news/17760749.raft-new-digital-radio-stations-hit-airwaves-cumbria/

"A RAFT of new digital radio stations are to launch across Cumbria, under plans unveiled by Ofcom.

The broadcast regulator has revealed that hundreds of new stations will be rolled out across the country from next year.

The announcement comes as the telecommunications company said that more than 40 per cent of the UK's radio listening takes place on the Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) platform.

Currently, in Cumbria there is only one DAB multiplex, Digital One (D1), which only broadcasts a number of national commercial radio stations across the county.

The latest proposals aim to expand local DAB coverage, and give Cumbrian listeners an even wider choice of stations."

Or try this:

"There are currently 55 local radio multiplex licences in issue1. Most, but not all, parts of the UK are within the potential coverage area of at least one local radio multiplex service. In the Greater London area, there are three such local radio multiplex services. However, in Cumbria, Suffolk and parts of Scotland there is currently no local radio multiplex service (although listeners in these areas may be able to receive national digital radio services from the BBC, and/or national commercial radio stations from the national radio multiplex service provided by Digital One)."

Smart*rse.

Of course, when were people like ZDB, so smug and sure in their arrogant superiority, ever bothered by anything so inconvenient as facts?

"I live as rural as rural can be and I get it fine."

Well, bully for you. I live in a rural area, and DAB reception here is cr*p.

"You clearly haven't got anywhere near digital radio"

Wrong

"I have you pegged at near pensioner at the very least but would bet a fair wodge you're well into retirement age."

Wrong. Not so clever as you think you are.

"You are on a science denial website which only exists to deny science"

That's your opinion, and you're entitled to it, but as with your other inaccurate statements, you're wrong.

By the way, that "wodge" you talked about. How much is it, and how do I collect?
