For the removal of doubt

The elusive Joseph Mifsud is spook prince - see here at a gathering of Italy's top spooks

There have been many cases of UK Politicians avoiding the questions put to them by interviewers, and instead answering the question they weren't actually asked. I am sure the USA is familiar with the tactics employed.

US Journalists will watch with great interest as US Politicians avoid asking the questions they don't want answered, and I presume that Mueller will decline to speculate on matters that have no conclusive evidence to support them.

As a Lawyer, Mueller will know that in Court (and before Cameras) it is risky to ask questions that you don't already know the answer to. If he has already provided carefully worded summaries in evidence to the matters he was able to, the questions may be down to semantics concerning his choice of words, but even that may go wrong for Democrats.

If the Republicans and sane Democrats (eg Tulsi Gabbard) don't ask the correct questions and purge the rotten stuff - it will get infected and fester - that is common sense. The dopes in the Democrat Party are getting up to some rather nasty tactics to try and bully others. If the shoe were on the other foot the squealing would be deafening.

If this persists the gloves will come off - they have to.

The Nadler run House Judiciary Committee vote to hold the Attorney General in contempt of Congress - for REFUSING to break the law and disclose confidential Grand Jury testimony.

Sounds an awful lot like Nadler pronouncing "the law is what we say it is" - comparisons to the Eric Holder involvement in gunrunning affair are inevitable - however this vote was straight down party lines....

seems legit... if you are Alexandria Ocasio Cortez

The BBC won't show this - but keep headlining "AG Barr held in contempt"

May 9, 2019 at 12:30 AM | Registered Commentertomo

The Nadler "we'll sue the AG" is actually ridiculous .... Barr is simply adhering to rules emplaced by Congress not only have Nadler and chums now refused twice to see the report (once at the DOJ office and subsequently at Congress) - they could amend the existing law / relevant rules with a couple of votes - and - finally the same rule was tested in a court recently where the existing law was upheld.... there's contempt for law - just not where Nadler says it is.

So - creating the impression that Barr is DJT's poodle is more important than than *any* evidence in the report - something that hasn't been noticed or is being deliberately misrepresented by the UK's BBC - it's embarrassing.

Everyone is equal under the law ?
"Two men reported to prosecutors after a paragliding protest during Donald Trump’s stay at Turnberry will face no criminal proceedings"

.. that's after the jury found the XR head not guilty of criminal damage after he criminally damaged a London University historic stone facade.

I guessing .... some eejits will protest DJT's visit - I wonder if they'll get any sponsorship from ethical superglue companies?

Barr was AG when Pelosi was a first term representative....

Barr has a sense of humour and mischief. Clearly Pelosi doesn't, but I think there are other Democrats feeling a greater sense of nervousness about the mention of handcuffs.

AG Bill Barr was interviewed by Fox News on Thursday to be aired today at 09:00 EDT.

Based on the preview? Might be a head exploder,

If Democrats start demanding money for a luxury wing of a US Prison, for those accustomed to living/working in The White House, how many bedrooms with en-suite facilities will be needed?

It rather looks like The Daily Telegraph is either ludicrously ill informed or are seeking to deliberately muddy the water around Mrs May + her stable of spooks and quite implausibly torture the calendar of events wrt to "spygate".

One has to assume that they assume in 2019 that readers single source their "news"..... idiots.

It now seems possible that Halper, Steele and Deerlove & Co. might get an invite or several to assist with inquiries in Washington

Italy has "resigned" some top spooks, allegedly. Apparently for being a bit too close, cosy and co-operative with US Democrat led spooks.

The possibility that other top spooks, in other countries (including the UK) may have a sudden wish to spend more time with their families, must be rippling through communications being monitored by the Chinese.

The Guardian and BBC have gone strangely quiet.

the BBC are getting the defibrillator (and incidental music score) out on Novichok and the Guardian's embedded spooks are busying themselves with stuff too esp. things Assange related.

But yes, it isn't unreasonable to guess that retreat, re-group and sand bag filling is going on.

I'd wager though that it'll be foreign media that corner some of the relevant spooks before our lot....

I agree. UK media, Government, Secret Squirrels, No 10, The Establishment, Civil (and not so Civil) Service, Westminster, EU, European Governments etc have all been compromised by Steele's Dodgy Dossier.

"People who live in glass houses, shouldn't throw stones"
https://en.m.wiktionary.org/wiki/let_him_that_is_without_sin_cast_the_first_stone#English

Unless you know better, the US Media has yet to do any investigative reporting on Steele, his connections, backers allies within Whitehall/Westminster/FCO. He remains at liberty, but is being allowed to keep a very low profile. Has he commited a CRIMINAL Offence that would justify an Arrest Warrant being issued by the US or UK? IF his Dodgy Dossier did contain disclaimers, caveats etc but was still accepted as factual by US Spooks, Courts etc, he is more honest than the average gossip columnist.

The Guardian reported Jan 2017
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/jan/10/fbi-chief-given-dossier-by-john-mccain-alleging-secret-trump-russia-contacts

Where did McCain get it from? The Guardian again seemed "informed" on the subject:
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/jan/11/trump-russia-report-opposition-research-john-mccain
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/jan/13/trump-dossier-uk-ambassador-moscow-john-mccain-andrew-wood

The Guardian seems to have been regarded as a tool

my guess is that at least two regular bylines at GMG are two jobbers with editorial bypass.

May 21, 2019 at 1:18 AM | Registered Commentertomo

HMG seems to have used Sir Andrew Wood as the unofficial authenticator to provide John McCain (US Republican rival of Trump) with the confidence to rely on Steele's Dodgy Dossier

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrew_Wood_(diplomat)

HMG can explain that Sir Andrew Wood was no longer employed by HMG and FCO. The same applies to Steele.

All UK Government hands, duly washed clean.

The BBC also placed faith in Steele's Dodgy Dossier. Who or what gave them the confidence to do so? I have no idea! But if anyone does ......

US Democrats can shift blame on to a war hero Republican, the late Senator John McCain, and his supporters can point to the British connections, as will the EU.

With US Spooks and UK Secret Squirrels desperate to regain some trust with politicians and taxpayers, Huawei, Maduro, Kim Jung Un and Global Warming are likely to be framed.

History will judge EVERYONE who wanted the dodgy dossier to be real harshly. Some harsher than others (like the woman who pulled the entire fabrication together to begin with who will never be President) and some will be judged as willing fools (like the war hero) but we knew that already before the dossier ever saw the inside of Blumenthals ugly little mind.

This could be why the BBC and Guardian are hoping no one notices their abrupt lack of coverage..

Some of The Guardians "experts and sources":
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julian_Borger
"Julian Borger is a British journalist and non-fiction writer. He is the world affairs editor at The Guardian.[1] He was a correspondent in the US, eastern Europe, the Middle East and the Balkans and covered the Bosnian War for the BBC.[2] Borger is a contributor to Center of International Cooperation.[3]

His 2016 book, The Butcher's Trail, was reviewed by The Independent,[4] The National,[5] and The Wall Street Journal."

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Schoofs
"Mark Schoofs is an American journalist and head of the investigative reporting division at BuzzFeed. He was formerly senior editor at ProPublica from 2011 to 2013, and an investigative reporter at The Wall Street Journal for over a decade. He previously wrote for The Village Voice, where he won the 2000 Pulitzer Prize for International Reporting for an eight-part series on AIDS in Africa.[1][2] Schoofs graduated magna cum laude from Yale University in 1985 with a degree in Philosophy, and has taught journalism at Yale.[3][4] He has been awarded multiple Science Journalism Awards from the American Association for the Advancement of Science."

https://www.theguardian.com/profile/lukeharding
★Luke Harding even had a book to plug!★
"Luke Harding is a Guardian foreign correspondent. He has reported from Delhi, Berlin and Moscow and covered wars in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Libya. His book Collusion: How Russia Helped Trump Win the White House is published by Guardian Faber. "
