The Stern report has been the most disastrous economic flipping flop, since Karl Marx, and just like under Marxism, the poor and vulnerable have died the quickest.
To reduce further unnecessary suffering and death around the world, it would be good if the UK tore up Miliband's Climate Change Act, inspired by the Stern Report, to prove that life for all does get better.

It concerns correspondence between himself and Jonathon Jones about a comment he made here (quoted in Mark Steyn's new book).
Is it just me or does that exchange show that he (Appell) really has no understanding of the "science" behind, and the controversies surrounding, the "hockey stick"?
(Prof Jones' rather good summary of some of the main issues is just dismissed as "hand waving"!)

Mr Gore – whose office yesterday failed to respond to a request for comment – insisted then: ‘There is a 75 per cent chance that the entire polar ice cap during some of the summer months could be completely ice-free within five to seven years.’
Misleading as such forecasts are, some people continue to make them. Only last month, while giving evidence to a House of Lords Select Committee inquiry on the Arctic, Cambridge University’s Professor Peter Wadhams claimed that although the Arctic is not ice-free this year, it will be by September 2015.
Asked about this yesterday, he said: ‘I still think that it is very likely that by mid-September 2015, the ice area will be less than one million square kilometres – the official designation of ice-free, implying only a fringe of floes around the coastlines. That is where the trend is taking us.’
I think its about 4.8million square kilometres now:-)
There is absolutely no point in trying to reason with Appell.

Jonathan Jones is a Professor of Physics at Oxford. I met him in the aftermath of "Climategate" and had a long discussion about various aspects of climate "science".
Not surprisingly he is very bright and really knows what he is talking about..
Appell on the other hand wouldn't know the difference between long division and regression.
I know who I would trust and it is not the terminally stupid Appell.

Is it more outrageous that Stern blatantly flip-flops, or that he gets away with such transparently invalid methods, or that so much of the media just echoes whatever he happens to say on a given day without question? So many choices.
