A few sites I've stumbled across recently....
Steve McIntyre has a hilarious post on the desperate measures needed to get some non peer reviewed papers into the IPCC's AR5. I am not sure where the phrase 'Frankenscience' comes from but it seems appropriate for AR5 which already looks DOA.

I love the bins.
Is that an S below the A and R in the book's spine? There appears to be also a missing E
Technically the paper was peer-reviewed. However, having slipped in a progress paper - a form of review article - the peer reviewers were not responsible of establishing that correct methodology had been used and appropriate conclusions had been drawn.
Inspired stuff Josh!!
One of your best Josh. The power source is appropriate as climate scientists never do seem to understand clouds.
Hey Yosh, you have such a special skewed technique to raise up the stones and get a flash picture of the bugs activity under it, great! Love it!
Great stuff Josh!
Regarding the etymology, according to the NYT it was coined by biotechnophobes demonizing GMOs etc.
I love predicting the future when I know I will be right.
When historians look back they will start with the assumption that the most obvious challenging subject for an early 21st century social scientist would be to observe how did the quite clearly prevalent socio-political climate alarmist noise possibly adversely affect proper understanding and quality of application in climate science.
I’m joking of course ;)
omnologos's comment reminds me of the story, true according to legend anyway, that when Shell discovered their first UK oil field the Dutch headoffice boardroom designated it A-UK, intending any subsequent Shell UK discoveries to be designated alphabetically B-UK, C-UK etc until a Brit employee explained why it was not a wise precedent. They then seized the fortuitous coincidence that AUK was also a seabird, and so continued in that vein with Brent, Cormorant etc thenceforth.
Oh, they were worried an oil field would be labeled Yuk?
Surely the use of "Franken" in front of "science" harks back to Tropical Storm Sandy when the media referred to it (the storm) as a "Frankenstorm".
Your latest cartoons are amongst the best Josh.

What on earth is a 'progress paper' and why on earth do normal standards not apply to it?! This is BS.
Me too. I think describing AR5 as "progress" is pushing it a bit. Progress would be an announcement that there will not be an AR5, and all previous ones are repudiated.
That's got to be a candidate for a page all to itself in the 2014 calender!
Or, even better, John, in AR5 itself.
