Yeo must go

The Telegraph is reporting that Conservative backbenchers are increasingly unhappy with Tim Yeo's chairmanship of the House of Commons Energy and Climate Change Committee. It seems that the vast flows of cash he receives from renewables companies are now seen as unacceptable. Yeo apparently issued a statement to the Mail:

Not only have my interests been correctly registered at all times but... they were listed in full on the ballot paper circulated to all MPs when I was elected chair of the committee in June 2010.

Furthermore, I’ve held the views I’ve expressed regularly on renewable energy consistently and strongly since 1993, as many publicly available documents over the last 19 years show.

That the Commons elected him despite his conflict of interest in 2010 does not seem to be a good reason for him to keep his position now. Yeo must go.

Hopefully right wing nutters round the world will recognise that Yeo, Cameron and Osborne are right wing nutters just like themselves and drop the pathetic idea that there is any left wing politics involved in global warming.

What global warming Smiffy? Autumn is starting a month early this year. The jet stream has moved south as the World is cooling fast. The vicious Southern winter is just starting to let up as they head for spring!

As for politics, lefties are being used as cover for much nastier people who cannot be classified left or right, using IPCC climate fraud to grab power and to restart the Eugenics we thought had died out in 1945.

Chris Huhne has, so it appears, gone the same way as JoNova: 'Account Suspended': http://joannenova.com.au/cgi-sys/suspendedpage.cgi

"using IPCC climate fraud to grab power and to restart the Eugenics we thought had died out in 1945."

In Europe we would call them the extreme right. People who's forebears suported Hitler, namely the (British) aristocracy and their supporters. Prince Charles, Prince Philip, Prince Bernhardt, Viscount Porritt, Lord Melchitt, Oliver Tickell, Sir Crispin Tickell (Thatcher's ambassador to the UN, George Monbiot's mentor and public eugenecist), Zak Goldsmith, David de Rothschild, James Lovelock, Edward Goldsmith , John Aspinall and Lord Lucan (yes that Lord Lucan, the Nazi).

"We recognize that separating humanity from nature, from the whole of life, leads to humankind’s own destruction and to the death of nations. Only through a re-integration of humanity into the whole of nature can our people be made stronger. That is the fundamental point of the biological tasks of our age. Humankind alone is no longer the focus of thought, but rather life as a whole . . . This striving toward connectedness with the totality of life, with nature itself, a nature into which we are born, this is the deepest meaning and the true essence of National Socialist thought."

Smiff.
Perhaps you are describing yourself when you talk about right wing nutters. You condemn people for what their parents or grandparents thought. National Socialism: you can argue as to whether or not it was socialism, but it seems as if you learned your smear tactics from them.

Tim Yeo's only expertise and interest is in lining his own pocket.

The man is a disgrace and must go. Not just from this hopelessly compromised committee, but
from Parliament itself.

This is the next big scandal. M.Ps sitting on committees where they can influence policies which will
benefit them financially.

Let's start a campaign to raise awareness over this- starting with Yeo.

coniston

You are confused. I am not right wing. I am not a nutter and I am not condemning people for what their parents or grandparents thought. Many of them appeared on the Guardian environmental pages supporting global warming until I and others ridiculed them off the stage for their aristocratic arrogance. They were replaced by George Monbiot, another very scary man from the extreme right who just happens to be descended from French aristocracy. The article below is a manifesto of deep ecology, previously known as National Socialism. The clue is the dangerous notion of progress.

God of the Soil

The peculiarities of the Abrahamic religions - their astonishing success in colonising the world and their dangerous notion of progress (now inherited by secular society) - result from a marriage between the universal god of the nomads and the conditions which permitted cities to develop. The dominant beliefs of the past 2000 years are the result of an ancient migration from soils such as xerepts and xeralfs to soils such as fluvents and rendolls.

At Easter, the Christian belief in a permanent resurrection is mixed up with the pagan belief in a perpetual cycle of temporary resurrection and death. In church we worship the Christian notion of progress, which has now filtered into every aspect of our lives. But, amid the cracking of easter eggs and the murmur of prayer, there can still be heard the small, faint voice which reminds us that our ecological hubris must eventually be greeted by nemesis.

Nice to know the Daily Nasty is getting in on the act. Not a paper I like to read but one beloved by Tories.

Also worth remembering this piece from:-
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/226643.stm

"Yeo Ho Ho

On Boxing Day 1993, the tabloids led with the news married environment minister Tim Yeo had a six-month-old "love child" to single mother and Tory councillor Julia Stent.

The News of the World ran the story during the quiet festive period and after two weeks of headlines such as "Yeo Ho Ho", Mr Yeo resigned from his position.

Mr Yeo was one in a string of scandal's which followed John Major's "back to basics" campaign.

Some weeks later, newspapers printed the story that the MP had fathered another child many years ago as a Cambridge student. The daughter had been given up for adoption.

Mr Yeo was by no means the first casualty of "back to basics", or the last."

Now, I believe that MPs (even incompetent and amoral ones like Yeo) have a right to a private life. But they forfeit that when they campaign of 'the importance of marriage as an institution' and 'family values' like Yeo does. Or like Greg Barker did before ditching his family for his gay lover. Or like Huhne did.

But these little peccadillos are as nothing to the mischief and damage they have done and continue to do in pursuit of their greenie obsessions. And their financial interests.

'Second thoughts:
Is the government thinking of seperating energy and climate change with Gummer chairing a new committee on climate change and a new MP being selected for energy?
This would be a good move IMHO.'

Bizarrely, I met Yeo's son around that time. He was going out with my girl friend's mental case sister, but was really in love with Paul Gascoigne. Thrill seeking must run in the family.

Nice comment on the DM piece:

Tim Yeo's avid promotion of the now discredited globalwarming/climatechange meme and his duplicitous pursuit of funding from the renewables industry, whilst at the same time being chairman of a supposedly impartial government energy committee, has not gone unnoticed by his constituents. The Suffolk South constituency has been a too placid supporter of Yeo, and may have stayed that way but for the the consequences of an event in 2008, namely the passing of the Climate Change Act, with Yeo as one of its most enthusiastic cheerleaders. This Act has been an eye-opener for it has brought in the prospect of huge increases in energy bills, higher taxation, despoilation of the countryside, subsidy grubbing, and political manipulation through unsubstantiated climate doom scenarios.

This unease over Yeo's stance was magnified recently after a DECC presentation in the constituency on 'sustainability', at which it was made obvious to Yeo that he could not rely on automatic support any longer. It may not matter to him as we suspect he will be retiring from the Commons after thirty years as our MP at the next election. This may also explain why he does to show any sense of shame or contrition at currently holding obviously conflicting chairmanship positions.

the push is still on in the US to get bipartisan support for all things CAGW:

15 Aug: Bloomberg: Editorial: Carbon Taxes Cut Debt, Cool Planet
Absent some profound shift in our penchant for burning coal, oil and gas, the Earth is expected to warm as much as 11.5 degrees Fahrenheit over the next 100 years, causing more weather-related destruction…
The U.S., which accounts for about 19 percent of global emissions today, should take the lead in doing so as part of broader tax reform.
The benefits of such a tax are clear: It would raise immediate revenue for a strapped nation, curtail the use of fossil fuels and, as a result, drastically lower emissions. A carbon tax of $15 a ton that rises at 4 percent above inflation annually would raise $310 billion by 2050 and cut emissions 34 percent (or 2.5 billion metric tons), according to a recent report by the Brookings Institution…
The basic concept of a carbon tax enjoys support from a majority of Americans, including many Republicans. Former Representative Bob Inglis, a South Carolina Republican, recently started a think tank to build support for a carbon tax, and the conservative American Enterprise Institute has joined Brookings and the International Monetary Fund in an initiative to explore one. Greg Mankiw of Harvard University and Glenn Hubbard of Columbia University, two top economic advisers to presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney, have been vocal proponents, along with Arthur Laffer, a former economic adviser to President Ronald Reagan…
Even climate skeptics recently confirmed a solid link between carbon emissions and a warmer climate. And just last week, an analysis of worldwide temperatures over the past 60 years found that the growing warmth is responsible for extreme heat waves like those in Texas and Oklahoma last year…

Yeo knows CAGW is a free-for-all:

13 Aug: Reuters: Creditors line up as recycled CER seller goes bust
Reporting by Michael Szabo; additional reporting by Silvia Antonioli
Total Global Steel has been forced into liquidation by creditors after a UK court ruled in May that the London-based trading house must pay Deutsche Bank 4.2 million euros ($5.1 million) in damages for selling the German bank recycled carbon credits…
A source working in the shabby grey building in central London that used to house TGS’ metals, power and carbon trading operations said, on request of anonymity, the company had vacated in March after “packing up and leaving in the middle of the night”…
The firm remains a member of ICE Futures Europe, the world’s largest marketplace for CO2 trading, the bourse’s website showed.
TGS was also linked to 88,000 carbon credits stolen from paper manufacturer Drewsen Spezialpapiere in 2010 after lawyers acting on behalf of the German firm said the units were traced to an account held at the UK emissions registry and registered in Lonergan’s name…
In October 2010, Lonergan said in an interview that TGS was expanding its operations in China, originating carbon offsets from forestry projects and partnering with the Beijing Environmental Exchange to launch a carbon footprint evaluation service.
He said TGS was also invited to join China’s official delegation to the 2010 U.N. climate talks in Cancun, Mexico and shortly after attend a meeting in Washington at the White House.

Ye Gods! They really are disappearing up their own backsides! Presumably since they were "recycled" that made them ecologically and ethically sound!
The old concept of "taking in each other's washing" seems to apply.
