Dec 9, 2011 Climate: HSI I've been meaning to tell everyone that the Hockey Stick Illusion is now available in a second expanded edition. It incorporates a new appendix that tells the story of the Hockey Stick and the Milankovitch Cycle and the mysterious carbon dioxide adjustment to MBH99. This was one of the remarkable findings to be precipitated by Climategate 1.0.
And just in time for Christmas too.

Is there an Kindle version?
Will the Appendix be separately available for those who bought the first edition?
Is the Kindle version on Amazon the new edition? i already have the hardback but would buy it again on Kindle if it was.
Bu**er. I just gave a copy of the first edition to a fanatically warmist colleague. Will you be doing Illusion 3.0 to incorporate Climategate 2.0?
The Hockey Stick is to climate science what Piltdown Mann was to evolutionary science.
Piltdown Man was the 'missing link' that science was looking for between apes and the evolution of humans that led to the acceptance in science that the large human brain developed first.

The Hockey Stick was the 'missing link' that climate science was looking for between older centennial temperature proxies and the later decadal instrument record that led to the acceptance in climate science that modern global temperatures were unprecedented and that humans were responsible.
It may well take climate science just as long to debunk the notion that modern temperature are unprecendented and that humanity was to blame.
Congratulations Andrew. I really enjoyed HSI 1.0. There were, however, an alarming number of typos ( I appreciate you were rushing to get it out around the time of 'Climategate'). Please get your publisher to proof read it meticulously.
My book was published with one typo. Nobody has ever said they found it, but I know it's there.
I just hate that.

If you look at the widespread indoctrination, there is now a complete generation for whom there is no question that man-made global warming is reality. Plus there is a very large group whose income depends on the belief being maintained. And not to overlook the existence of a significant group whose belief equates to a religious passion.
The failure of the planet's climate to exhibit any untoward warming will be explained as showing the effectiveness of the measures taken and the importance of continuing the ongoing sacrifices.
Don't expect the global warming religion to fade away in a mere generation or two.
I'm checking to see if the Kindle is the second edition or not. Should have an answer by Monday.
Chuffed! It is one of the best books I have ever read and I never spotted any typos. I lent my copy to a friend in the UK on holiday and he went back to Oz with it in his baggage. Someone will be able to buy me the Kindle version for Christmas...assuming that 'someone' buys me the Kindle first!

I'm just a lurker here but this seems like a good point to chime in.
The HSI is one of my fav books and I plan to gift several friends this Xmas. I have already lent it to a few people, and am surprised I have it back in my possession :-)
Mr McIntyre is a personal hero to me. Following CA over the years has rekindled my interest in science. Reading the story of it all in HSI was a complete JOY.
You could tell, though, that the last chapter on climategate was thrown together at the last minute.... so HSI 2 is a welcome revision.

They hadn't updated the Kindle edition as of a few days ago because I bought it via Kindle on Monday and I have the first edition....
I hope that you are going to follow up with a book on Climategate!

You can download the Kindle software from Amazon onto any PC or mobile device for free. It works fine on my PC, except I have to sit at the screen to use it. If you have a tablet you'd hardly need a Kindle at all.

I think you've outer yourself as the foremost writer on elucidating AGW sticking points, especially statistical ones, so that this of us with only street-level stats knowledge can grasp what it is about and where the shell games were and are being played.
