Weaver still on board
Feb 2, 2010 Climate
A few days ago I reported that uberwarmer Andrew Weaver was jumping the global warming ship, calling for the resignation of Raj Pachauri and institutional reform of the IPCC. He has now issued a clarification, in which he says he still believes in global warming.
It's as if the first officer elects to sink with the captain.

Nice piece in the Independent (believe it or not)

More corruption of peer review uncovered similar tacticts to those used by CRU?

Looks for all the world to me as if he has been lent on by "authority.” This will be part of the orchestrated campaign started on Sunday to save the sinking ship and attack the sceptics. Well it has run its course and had no effect. Do they have the stomach for another round? Every time they do try they turn more and more people off.
There will be a fightback.
They do not give up easily.
Look where we are now with MP's expenses, for instance: the issue is off the front pages, the system is hardly reformed at all, and the guilty are quietly being let off.
Vigilance, people!
And so we see it doesn't matter what he says, you take the same line. You quote as evidence of...god knows what. And then when it turns out to be false, carry on regardless.
Interesting also this is the latest in a series of very convenient media 'quotes' that turn out to be nonsense but are eagerly repeated by the deny-o-sphere anyhow.
Why no mention of that angle? If the scientists did anything similar you'd all be in uproar. But when obvious lies are trotted out for your side the sources get a free pass from 'sceptics' and will be used again - why?
As a Canadian skeptic, I actually find it reassuring that Mr. Weaver still adheres to his catastrophic climate change advocacy. By his continuing public maintenance of his views, Weaver commits to a spectacular crash and burn if he turns out to be wrong. After all, the captain (lead author) should go down with the ship.
