Michael Mann in the Benshi...

...the Benshi being the name of a website. It's mainly about the interaction of media and climatology, with the usual denunciations of the "well-funded" efforts to undermine Mann and his colleagues. Ironic that, given we've just been having a conversation about why we can't seem to afford anyone easier upon the eye than David Henderson and Lord Lawson to put our message over to the masses.

The interview is here. (H/T Doug Keenan in the comments).

This is hilarious...they spin it as though the skeptics woke up one day in a vacuum and just turned up the attack dial.

C'mon!! As Richard Lindzen said in the last post..."deservedly maligned"

Reads like a long, drawn-out blow-job.

"Well, yeah. And I think that the talk now needs to be translated to action. Thus far its been all talk, in large part because nobody really believed that the other side would get that nasty and dirty and dishonest, but they have. They’ve crossed that line. And now people are realizing this, and if they don’t step up and assist the scientific community, their own interest in seeing meaningful action to combat climate change could be in jeopardy."

I roughly translate this as

Hey I'm getting all the s**t here and all you guys that are making money on the carbon exchanges had better come and help or I'm not going to play ball anymore. And Al that offer to come over for a beer still stands, I know you said you'd take a rain check but hey you know it's starting to get lonely out here on the front line and that house of yours sure looks nice and big and cozy looking and inviting, not that I've seen it like but just heard from people and stories like, you know.
HHHmmmpphhh I need a hug.

that nasty and dirty and dishonest,

And if there is anyone better qualified to understand this, and lead by example....

Three mentions of fossil fuel industry funding and implying that every "denier" was anti-science. Not a mention that there are a lot of climate scientists and general scientists who were sceptics.

A large dollop of BS is one way of summing up the interview.

Oh poor Michael Mann, he has no money and the nasty sceptics are attacking him. /sarcasm off.

Perhaps if he behaved like a honest reputable scientist then he wouldn't be famous and attacked for his debunked hockey stick and 'hide the decline'.
The bloke is a narcissist.

RO - Before we wrap this up, can I offer you a foot massage?

When there is no excuse, no explanation, just double down on the same garbage you have been spewing all along. Someone gave that great advice to Michael Mann and he decided to run with it. Next up, he'll just say it LOUDER and more slowly, so us imbeciles without degrees in "Climatology" can understand better!

"I was deeply disappointed to see it from CBS, the television network that was once home to Walter Cronkite and Edward R. Murrow and held up as a paragon of journalistic integrity.."

And dont forget Dan Rather and how he exposed Dubya with those 'fake but accurate' national guard papers
Oh... wait. Never Mind.

"RO - But, with all due respect, I have to challenge you on this point — there is so much money in the world of science, and there is so much money at the foundations, and there is so much money available for this issue of climate change and global warming — as I’ve pointed out repeatedly on this website — Al Gore said he raised $300 million for communicating about climate change — I really have a hard time seeing it as David and Goliath.

MM - Let me put it this way — everything you said is true, but I’m talking about the scientists and their ability to defend themselves and their work. Now there is a lot of money potentially out there in foundations that support public relations campaigns, but none of that, thus far, has filtered down to where there are resources for scientists to defend themselves against attacks. And I think the climate denial lobby recognizes the effectiveness, frankly, of their campaign to discredit scientists."

Hey... wait. AlGor raised 300 million and Mann and/or RealClimate hasnt seen a penny of it?!!!!!
Well, there's overhead I suppose.
And it's been pretty cold in Tennessee
And Green Industry stocks to buy so as to put the mou.. errr.... Money where the Mouth is.

Preaching to the thinning ranks of the converted; I don't think this is going to get him much credit from those who haven't already quaffed the Kool-Aid.

I hope the AGW promoters keep up this form of.....denial for as long as possible.
Yes, true believers, tell yourselves nice comforthing lies about skeptics every day, all day.
Tell yourselves anything to avoid the reality of the problems with AGW theory, and the sad nature of the AGW social movement.

His description of the "RealClimate" website is misleading. It was started and is still paid for by Fenton Communications - Al Gore's PR buddies. They do this through a front company called "Environmental Media Services".
